(The story begins during the Astral Express's stay on Jarilo-VI.)

Your point of view:

A moderate crowd gathers around in front of Golden Theater. The age of everyone varies from juveniles to elders, each of them has a look of excitement on their face, waiting eagerly for the young man in the spotlight - the one who stands on top of a booth.

Just another one of my street performances. This is what I do for a living.

"Today's show is a simple sleight of hand. Let's start, shall we?" I wave my hand horizontally and carefully look at every guests. "Hm?"

In the front of the crowd, there's an enthusiastic girl with light pink hair and pink and blue eyes. She wears a white top with gold buttons that clips to a black choker, as well as a loose pink and blue overcoat. She also wears a blue and white pleated skirt with a black vest around her waist, her camera attached at the hip, as well as black and blue boots and an archery glove on her right hand.

"You there, the girl with Heterochromia Iridium."

Most people stare at the lass, but she stands there cheerfully, still taking pictures with her camera. Not until she noticed the awkward atmosphere did she respond to me. "Hetero- say what now?" asked the quirky girl.

"Sorry, I'm talking about you. You can think of it as you're too cool for school."  I continue on and hold out a hand for her. "I want you to come up here to be the witness."

The girl replies and hops on the booth, next to me. "Sweet! I always knew my past self was badass."

I then pull out one of my equipment within my pockets. "As you can see here people, this is a completely normal deck of cards. Feel free to check."

The crowd moves closer and focuses their attention on the playing cards. Meanwhile, the pink haired girl capture it on camera, as if she has never seen one before. However, I do not mind that. I proceed with the magic trick and fan the cards. "Miss, choose your card."

She stares at a deck slowly and skim through each of the cards. After what seemed to be minutes, she picks the one somewhere on the right side.

"Very well. Now, slide that card discreetly so that I cannot know which card it is."

I shuffle the deck of cards and look up at the same time. That is to ensure there are no chances of sabotage. The deck lands gently on the booth when my hands leave it there. My face turns to the girl and my right arm reaches behind her ear. Somehow, a card is brought out, and it reads the 7 of diamonds. "Is this your card?"

She chuckles and returns my gaze, unimpressed. "No, silly. I didn't pick that card."

The crowd grows smaller because a few people felt scammed and left. Some stay with the hope that it's not the climax yet. It takes me a few seconds of silence in order to respond: "I guess I messed up. At least, let me take a picture of you to commemorate."

The girl pats my shoulder while feeling proud that she just exposed me. Luckily, she accepts my request and allows me to snap a photo of her. "Say cheese!" She smiles genuinely which only gives me more motivation for the true ending of this trick. When I show her the result of the image, she gasps with a faint blush and the crowd give me a round of applause.

"Is this your card? The 3 of hearts." The photo of the camera is actually the card she chose. The icing on the cake is that there are two extra words - which she didn't write - on the card, and they form a sentence. I love you.

 I love you
