You hold your bow in your hands, the weapon completely foreign to you. You've seen others archers, like Legolas and Kili, use them; but you've never been trained yourself. "No time like the present." You say, pulling out a target. You drag it into the open field when you see Kili walking towards you. "What are you doing, Y/N?" He inquires. "Oh, you know, just trying out my archery skills." You reply nonchalantly. "Have you even ever fired off an arrow?" He asks, raising his eyebrows. You grin. "No." You answer. "Would you like some help?" Kili asks. "Yeah, of course!" You exclaim. "You're one the best archers in all of Middle Earth." You claim. Your eyes trail past him to the figure walking towards you. Legolas. "Speaking of one of the best archers..." You trail off, nodding to Legolas. He waves at you and you wave back, smiling. "No way." Kili states, anger flashing in his eyes. He turns around and crosses his arms. "Legolas, of course you'd be here." Kili says tightly. "What're you doing?" Legolas asks you, ignoring Kili. "Kili was just going to start helping me with some archery." You answer, glancing at the Dwarf, smiling. "Oh, why bother Kili with that? I'm sure he has a bunch of things to do. Why don't I help you?" Legolas asks. Before you can say anything, Kili scoffs and glares at Legolas. "I actually have nothing to do today, Legolas. That's why I came here." He claims. "Well, Y/N would probably rather have me here to help than you. I explain things better." Legolas states, looking down his nose at Kili, his chin tilted upwards. When you start to protest Kili cuts you off. "Yeah, yeah, sure you can." He says sarcastically. Legolas and Kili have a glare-off battle, none of them willing to let up. You laugh and step between them, putting your hands on both of their chests. "You know what, boys, I have a swell idea. Why don't you both teach me archery?" You say. You look between them, nodding. "Yes? Yes?" You ask. "Fine." Kili grumbles, taking a step backwards. "Sure." Legolas sighs. You clasp your hands together. "Great." You breathe.~
"So you hold it like this." Legolas explains, adjusting your fingers onto the weapon. "You're doing it wrong." Kili says to Legolas. Legolas narrows his eyes and looks to Kili. "And how would you have me do it?" He spits. Kili walks over to you and barely moves your fingers up on to the bow. "There." He says, smiling proudly. "You barely even moved her fingers!" Legolas exclaims. "Well, it's going to help!" Kili protests. "Guys." You sigh. "He started it!" Legolas exclaims. Kili gasps. "I?! I started it?!" He exclaims. "You guys, knock it off!" You exclaim. Legolas and Kili quiet down. "Please, I appreciate your input but we're getting nowhere with the two of you constantly bickering." You say. "Okay, I'm sorry, Y/N." Legolas says. "Yeah, me too." Kili chimes in, his eyes on the dirt. "Now please. Let's get a move on." You say. You continue in your stance at they overlook you. "Mm, I need to change something." Kili says, kneeling to move your foot. Legolas crouches and pushes him out of the way. "I saw that it needed to be changed first." He rushes to explain. "No, you didn't! I was already on the ground and you shoved me!" Kili exclaims. You glare at them. "I did not!" Legolas declares, hitting Kili's shoulder with his hand. Kili's eyes widen and then narrow into slits. "Oh, you're going to get it now, Elf." He spats. He lunges for Legolas and you step out of the way. "Pointless. Absolutely pointless." You say, ignoring them as they fight. You nock and arrow and strike up a pose. You glance at Kili and Legolas rolling on the ground, throwing punches and blocking them. You sigh and shake your head. Looking back to the target, you focus on it. You release the arrow and it hits the center of the target. You raise your eyebrows in shock. "Well, thanks, guys." You say, bending to pick up your quiver. You sling it around your shoulders. "See you guys later." You say, walking off, leaving them to your fight.~
Legolas and Kili step away, breathing heavily. "If Y/N wasn't watching, I'd probably killed you." Legolas hisses. "Likewise." Kili fires back. He looks around. "Wait, where is Y/N?" He asks. Legolas looks around too. "I... I don't know." He says, his eyebrows drawing. Kili spots the target. "Uh, Legolas?" He says. He nods to the target. "She made a bulls eye in one try." He states. Legolas raises his eyebrows. "So we have another natural born archer in our midst." He says. "More competition." He adds. "Yeah, but we both know we'd never be on the ground punching Y/N." Kili says. Legolas grimaces. "Yeah." He says. "Well, I need to go treat my black eye." Kili says. "I need to go see a healer about my lose tooth." Legolas says. "I hope it falls out." Kili says, smirking. "And I hope your black eye never heals." Legolas shoots back. "Fair enough." Kili says. "See you later, Elf." He says, walking away. "Goodbye, Dwarf. Till we meet again." Legolas says. Kili turns to Legolas and starts walking backwards, smiling. "I look forward to it." He says. Legolas grins and waves, and then heads the other way.
