Chapter 58
Long Feng simply stared at Lord Yi Ming silently.
He was a rank five Yang level cultivator and yet he was calling himself incompetent? He was disappointed in himself? How were cultivators at Long Feng's level supposed to react?
Lord Yi Ming, noticing Long Feng's silence, smiled widely.
"You may think that I am already strong enough, but you are wrong. You see, this cultivation is a lifetime job. Once you embark upon the path of cultivation, there is no more return for you. You have to keep growing stronger because in this world, You either kill or be killed. That is the law guiding the cultivation world.
Weak cultivators are prey to the strong, that is why we all strive for more strength. To the current you, you see me, a Yang level cultivator as an immovable mountain.
Likewise, at my level, I am still suppressed by a Spirit level cultivator. A Spirit level cultivator would also feel inferior to an Imperial level cultivator, and the chain continues on like that to the peak, if there is one." He explained.
Long Feng nodded slightly. Lord Yi Ming was right. He understood that to some extent.
"Do you believe in the peak of the Martial cultivation world?" Lord Yi Ming suddenly asked.
Long feng was taken aback by the sudden question. He had never really thought of that. His mind slowly drifted to Wu Kong.
Perhaps he had believed in the elusive peak of the Martial cultivation ever since he met the boundlessly powerful Wu Kong and the mighty three Dragons, but Lord Yi Ming's question now made him doubtful.
Was there really a peak in the martial world? Was there really an end to the cultivation path? Or at that peak, would another higher realm be revealed again? Similar to a never ending void?
If there was a peak, wouldn't Wu Kong have reached that peak or at least touched upon it.
And Wu Kong's master should have reached that peak. Even if they both hadn't, they were the closest Long Feng ever knew to it.
Yet, Wu Kong's master was dead. If Wu Kong's master had really attained the peak of the cultivation world or close to it, then shouldn't he have attained infinite life? The legendary eternal life?
How could he have died?
Long feng felt confused.
If there was no end to the path of cultivation, then why even bother to embark upon the path and end up being prey to those stronger than you? Wasn't it a waste of time?
Because at the end, there would always be someone ahead of you, a level above you, some realm that you couldn't reach; you could only look up to.
Lord Yi Ming's voice brought Long feng back to the present.
"I believe in it." He said slowly.
Long feng looked at him, confused. Lord Yi Ming continued "I may not be worth a grain of sand in the vast world of cultivation, but I still believe that there is an end to this path." he spoke distantly.
"You may not understand why I think so now, but you might later." Lord Yi Ming added. He had already completed the healing formation.
"Don't overthink about this. Sit in the center of the formation. The formation's energy will be channeled to your body" he said.
Long feng did as he was told and sat in the core of the formation. He felt a warm energy power flow into his body and to his injuries. His mind slowly drifted off into sleep.
When Long feng woke up, it was late into the night. He looked around the palace, but Lord Yi Ming was nowhere to be found. His hands were completely healed and other than the slight soreness lingering around his whole body and arms, he was feeling better.
