Chapter 27

The journey to the Wind canyon took up four whole days. The  group stopped occasionally at villages, settlement, or taverns to have their meal. For the past few days, that was the daily routine.

"We are very close to the canyon." The lady muttered.

"I thought we were lost." Yan Jian rolled his eyes. "The last three days were boring by the way." He added.

"Miss, we don't know anything about the Wind canyon. Could you share your information with us?" Long Feng asked.

She thought for a while before nodding.
"I suppose I should. The Wind canyon used to be a normal canyon. But according to rumors, two powerful Spirit realm warriors fought there a year ago." She paused, allowing them to register the shock of the spirit realm warriors.

"The canyon used to be a beautiful sight, home to some animals, and a village as well according to the rumors, but everything was destroyed. The entire beautiful anyon was drastically destroyed by the shockwaves after their battle. All lives, trees, animals, everything was destroyed. The canyon became a dead zone, what exists now." She explained.

"Amazing… only spirit realm warriors have the ability to change the land with their power and cause such destruction!" Yan Jian sighed.

"Indeed. I can only imagine how strong they are." Long Feng agreed.

"But why is the place still deserted? The battle ended a year ago, right? Couldn't people relocate there and build up the canyon once again?" Yan Jian asked.

"They did. Many people tried to move there and start their lives in the canyon. Unfortunately, few ever returned." The lady replied.

"Why? What happened" Long Feng asked.

"A battle between two Spirit realm cultivators is no trivial matter. Although the battle ended long ago, the aura of the two cultivators remained in the canyon. Due to the presence of their auras, a powerful oppressive pressure was formed throughout the canyon.

If a connate level cultivator was to enter there, they would be crushed to death instantly by the pressure. Even Yin level cultivators get crushed to nothing there, so over the years, the canyon became deserted. Few people dared to venture there for any reason." She explained.

Long Feng was stunned after hearing this story. A cultivator's aura could remain present even after many years? That was hard to believe.

But then again, it was the spirit realm they were talking about.

"Then why is the canyon called Wind Canyon and not something else?" Yan Jian asked.

"The pressure exists in the form of an ever present storm wind. Perhaps one of the fighters of even both of them were adept at controlling wind." The lady replied.

Yan Jian swallowed.
"A wind that can kill Yin realm cultivators? You should've mentioned this earlier! This is practically suicide!" He exclaimed. "I'm not ready to die!"

"The pressure has weakened much over the years. Yang realm cultivators are no longer threatened. Even Yin level cultivators can barely survive now." The lady replied calmly.

Yan Jian wasn't very convinced. "Brother Long Feng and I will have to wait for you outside the canyon, right?" He asked. He was a peak connate realm cultivator, so he could be crushed to death in the canyon. He didn't want to take risks, especially when it concerned this witch. Not a chance in hell!

"I can use my aura to protect the both of you. That way, you would not feel the full pressure. But even then, I can't hold on for long as well. We have to find and kill the assassin within one week, otherwise the both of you may die." she said.
