*Nora's POV*
Those slow steps towards the waiting taxi felt forced. It honestly felt like my feet were being pushed to leave a place which I didn't want to leave, but my heart kept on dragging me back. "Hurry up." Said Amir. At this point, even the driver seemed to become slightly impatient. I sighed, and stepped into the vehicle, quick enough to not be left behind. During the entire car drive, I stared thoughtfully at the window on my side. Amir probably assumed that I was just mesmerized by the rows of stunning mansions which we were passing by, yet the truth was that I was lost in my deep ocean of thoughts. Next week is going to be my last week as Miss Nora, before I become Mrs Nora. I felt a soft spark of excitement in my heart.
Shopping for beautiful dresses, searching for the perfect nikkah venue, tasting delicious and sweet cakes to choose, stepping into a luxurious limousine, and trying on jewelry. Wow... it just sounded so ethereal, so special, that I even started to get butterflies into my stomach. I let out a smile, and my eyes joined in too. "What was that smile about? Are you really that glad you left that hell house?" Amir said, chuckling. I glared at him. "No you clueless jerk, it's because I'm really looking forward to my Nikkah which is going to take place soon, In'Sha'Allah."
"Ha!" My brother scoffed. "It's about time we have a serious conversation." I raised my eyebrow in confusion. "You know why, it's because of Omar!" He responded. The very moment I heard his name come out of Amir's mouth, I immediately switched onto defensive mode. "Oh yeah? About how great of a person he is? Other than that, there's not anything to discuss. Oh! Unless you also want to have a long conversation about how the past Omar isn't the same person as the current Omar?"
"You sure are naive.." He mumbled under his breath. I simply brushed his statement off my shoulder and ignored his meaningless words.
*Ring* *Riiingggg!!*
Huh? Who's calling me? Oh, it's Omar! I hesitantly accepted the call, it was probably gonna be a bit awkward between the two of us since the "incident."
"Hey Omar..." I said.
Assalamu alaykum everyone, the short hiatus was much much longer than expected and I don't want my readers to be kept waiting for an even longer time, so until a bigger chapter is written In'sha'Allah, this will have to do.
