Hi, you're the new guy, aren't you? I thought so, you look new. I don't get out much though, so maybe you're not. You are new to the operation though, I know that. Operation Surface. Yeah, I know, not a very creative title. It sounds pretty suspicious too, so maybe that's why we never use it.
Anyway, I'm Lucy, and I'm coming on Thursday too. Gosh, it's hard to believe that's only two days away. Really one, considering we are leaving around two. You talked to Eric, didn't you? Okay good, so you knew that already.
Isn't it a weird thought to think though? That in less than 48 hours we will be out of this place and on the Surface. The Surface! I have only dreamed about being up there you know. About seeing the sky and feeling the breeze and breathing the air. I wonder what it will smell like. I've imagined it smelling sweet and fresh and pure. Can something smell pure? I don't know if it can or not, but I'm choosing to believe it can. Have you ever been up there? There is a rumour going around that there is a new kid and no one knows where they came from, and if you're that kid, maybe that's why you're coming on the mission! Never thought of that? Shoot, sorry, maybe I should have kept my mouth shut. Don't want to worry you, but it's an interesting thought, don't you think? That maybe Brian isn't the only one who's been up there. I know we just met and I have no reason to trust you, but I happened on some information that has led me to believe that there is a group within these bunkers that have made it up there before and survived, and some have come back too! It's probably just a conspiracy, but something worth looking into, right?
Anyway, have you - how is Eric? I mean, how is he treating you? To be honest, I don't think I belong on this mission. I'm clumsy and a slow runner and have nothing new to bring to the table. I am not an asset to the team. I'm disposable and we all know it, but Eric insisted I come. He was the one that told me about it before I was even on the team, so they kind of had to bring me incase I let it slip. And you know what? He lied about how I found out. I overheard him telling Brian and Tony that I was snooping around in his office and had seen the files. He wants everyone to think that he's a reliable, important asset to the team, but he's not. Listen, I'm only telling you this because I don't want anything to happen to you, but watch out for Eric. Be careful around him. I know what he's capable of and I'm afraid that I'm the only one who sees it. Not only is he a dangerous person to take to the surface, but he can get creepy. Like teenage-boy-fantasy, stalker-in-the-park creepy. He tried something on me once, and it makes me think that's the only reason he wants me there Thursday. It's a little sketchy, but I kind of hope that's why. Then I can show him how wrong he is.
Anyway, Brian needed me to gather some supplies, but hey, want to eat lunch together tomorrow? The food isn't the best here but the chefs do pretty good with what they have. Tomorrow is Sloppy-Joe day, but I know a place where my friend works where they sell some pretty good noodles. You'll have to try them before you go. You'll totally miss out if you don't.
I'll find you sometime tomorrow, see ya later.
