Survival Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Riliegh!" I scream getting her attention as she flips around with her baseball bat batting off the head of a women who seemed to be rotting for years. I look over to Paige using her sword, she " retrieved " from the army museum, slicing through two adult males both with missing limbs. In front of me is a mother with a black glob of acid on her dress. I quickly take her out with my knives as i run to the truck to start it. As the truck powers to life I flip on the headlights to see thirty more dead shambling down the road. "Get in!" My voice reaching the two girls as they run over and hop on. I set the truck to drive and ram through the dead traveling down the run down road to get back to safety. " What the heck just happened? " Paige looks to both of us with a worried look of frustration and confusion. "I don't know i didn't even hear them come down the road!" I say as i drive. "Did we get what we came for?" I look over to Riliegh. "Yea enough food to last another two months if were lucky." We travel down the road without talking. This is where we all grew up and had fun at. Now were all sixteen and protecting ten kids who without us wouldn't be alive. We get back to our safe house fifteen miles outside of town easily defendable and easy escape if we ever needed it. We try radioing Mckenzie but with no luck we turn it off. "Do you think they're still alive?" Paige says to me with her eyes watering already. "I'm sure of it they have all the teenagers don't they? Look were protecting a rag tag team of kids who should still be in 5th and 6th grade and their are only five of us they have thirty trust me." I say not sure if i even trust myself. Paige nods and walks away to check on the kids as i check with Brayden to discuss what happened.
