Same Town, New School, and New Cute Boys
★★★★★
I eyed the new school I'm going to suspiciously. You can make my life good, or you can ruin my life. I signed. I'm so nervous about going to a new school that the anger of having to move from Florida's beautiful and sunny beach to Japan. Sure, Japan is pretty and the people are wonderful, but I prefer the nice warm beaches.
I remember my friend Yui's failing attempt at keeping me calm just ten minutes before. "Don't worry, Sakura. With your raven dark hair, green eyes, and perfect tan, you'll peak up the popularity list. Just you watch."
"Yeah, but Samezuka Academy has a swim team." I smoothed down my uniform.
"A dreamy swim team, yes, but its filled with proud boys." Yui retied her light brown hair into a ponytail and walked off to another direction, toward her school.
Now I check my watch. Ten minutes before class starts. I rushed inside the large brick high school. I looked around for class 3-1. I had to stop and ask an olive green haired boy with the same colored eyes standing outside the office.
"Um, do you happen to know where class 3-1 is located?" I asked carefully in perfect Japanese.
"Oh, class 3-1? That's my homeroom. Here, you can just follow me." We walked down a large hallway.
Now I understand what Yui meant by my looks. As I walk down the hall, most of the beady eyes where staring at me. I kept my head up and walked carefully.
"Are you new here?" The olive green haired boy asked me. "My name's Makoto. Third year student at Iwatobi High."
"Uh," I suddenly felt very self-conscious. "I'm Sakura."
"Nice to meet you, Sakura." By now we reached a door with a small tag on it that labeled 3-1. We walked into a room filled with students running around, greeting each other. Makoto immediantly rushed into the crowd of rowdy kid.
Jerk. I'm gonna beat you up after class! I glared daggers and walked up the the teacher. I passed him my schedule.
"Okay class, settle down into your seats. We have a new student this year." Again, those beady eyes stared at me. Ugh. I should rip them off and cook a soup with them. "This is Asuna Sakura. She'll be joining us in class this year. Sakura, why don't you go sit in front of... Makoto. Makoto, raise your hand please." I waited for the jerk to raise his hand them sat in the empty seat in front of me.
I felt something tap me in the back. Ugh, Makoto. He threw a note on my desk. I smiled slightly. He doesn't look like the person who would pass notes in class. I opened the neatly folded price of paper.
Are you going to join a club this year?
I scribbled down a reply. Probably. I pretended to scratch my neck and dropped that note on his desk.
Well, you're welcome at the Swim Club I founded with a couple of friends.
Swimming? My face lit up. I'll be happy to.
Really?
I like swimming. Meet you after school.
I smiled to myself. I just noticed that I missed the first half of math class. That's alright, my math is good anyways. I checked the board to make sure I know the subject then doodled in my notebook.
The image of my family's house in Miami flashed in my mind. The pool's the same. The pool's the same.
