"By 1899, the age of
outlaws and gunslingers
was at an end.
America was becoming
a land of laws...
Even the West had
mostly been tamed.
A few gangs still
roamed, but they were being
hunted down and destroyed"Katie woke up to the usual noise in the camp of the Van der Linde Gang near Blackwater: Ms. Grimshaw was telling the other women the chores they were supposed to do today, said women complaining about it because they didn't want to do them and Dutch talking about his great plan we were supposed to pull off today while his gramophone played some music.
Dutch van der Linde, leader of this gang of outlaws, came up with one of his plans to make some money - again.
But this plan was supposed to be different.
This plan was supposed to change everything.
This plan was supposed to bring us enough money to move West and start somewhere new.
He is talking about this plan since he made it up with Micah, telling us how this would change our lives.
"Today we are Outlaws, but within the next couple of days we will leave this country, buy some land and start a new beginning" his voice carried through the whole camp, so everyone was able to hear him. He probably stood in front of his tent with a cigar in his hand, waiting for everyone to wake up so we could talk through the plan once more. Not wanting to get up, Katie snuggled closer to the body that was lying behind her on the cot. Arthur's arm came up from behind, sneaking around her waist to pull her closer to his chest and to bury his face in her neck.
"Good mornin'" he whispered into her ear, making her smile.
"Good morning," she replied, enjoying the minutes laying in his arms, while the rest of the gang woke up and tended to their chores.
"I would like to stay in bed with you the whole day, but we both have some work to do" she said facing the truth that they both would have to get out of bed sooner or later.
"Sure thing, but I'm not going to let you go," Arthur responded just to hold her even tighter.
"I need a coffee, and I don't need Dutch to come in the tent to drag us out because he can't wait to start with his plan,"
Katie said while getting out of his hold. After putting on her white shirt, black pants, and boots, she made her way out of the tent. With a mug in her hand and Arthur following behind her, they walked up to the small fire to pour themselves some coffee and to greet Abigail and Tilly who were sitting by the table just to be stopped by Dutch's voice who called everyone together to talk about the plan.
A ferry with a lot of money was supposed to come to Blackwater to hand the money to the bank. According to Micah, it would be about 150,000 dollars. Every member of the gang was supposed to be a part of the plan.
Only Arthur and Hosea weren't included because they had their own idea to make some money and would regroup with the Gang when the heist is over.
Katie and Mac Callander would wait near the Upper Montana River outside of Blackwater to meet up with the Gang when the heist is over and would be the back up if the group gets into trouble with the law.
After that, the Gang would meet up with Arthur and Hosea and move West to start their new life.
The plan sounded simple, but knowing Dutch, it probably wouldn't be as simple as it seemed to be. Especially when Micah was involved in the planning.
Micah has been in the Gang for only a couple of months, and his plans had already brought up some trouble, mostly with the local lawmen or some bounty hunters. But Dutch seemed to be impressed when he heard about the ferry, most likely because of the amount of money, so they started to work out the plan.
