Courtney watched as Matt Barnes received his first technical of the season. She laughed as she took notes on her iPad being that she would most likely have the chance to interrogate him about it later. She was a big Clipper fan, but tonight she had to be a little impartial. She was filling in for her co-worker Sean, who's wife was having their first child while the game was going on. There was one other thing too. She hated Matt Barnes. With a passion.
To her Matt was the reason why the Clippers couldn't get over the hump and into the conference finals. If only he could keep his attitude in check the team might've been able to hold it together long enough to challenge for the beloved conference finals and maybe even a championship.
"Classic," Courtney smirked from her seat watching as Matt threw a fit about the foul that was just called on him.
If she was being truly unbiased, Matt was having probably the best game of his career. He had 21 points coming to the end of the game and almost every three point shot he was putting up had fallen right where he wanted it to. That still didn't change Courtney's mind about the man that wore the number 22.
When the game was over the Clippers had indeed won the game. Courtney grabbed her bag and made her way to the press room where the players of the game would soon be out to address the media on their performances and what they thought about the status of the team at this point in the season.
Chris Paul was first up after Doc Rivers. He answered questions about his personal thoughts on the team and his 24 point 10 assist game. Courtney was a little awestruck watching him talk. She was a huge Chris Paul fan. There was finally a small break in the questions being asked and Courtney took that as her turn to ask her's.
"Chris you guys seem to have really gelled out there. Was it just this game and the way everything seemed to go your way or do you think you've finally found the missing piece that wasn't there for you last season?" Courtney asked.
"I mean it was a great game we definitely did a lot of things right. We still have work to do and we will look at the film and take from it what we can to grow as a team. We're definitely working together and it's paying off," Chris nodded.
As soon as he answered her question he was switched out with the next player. On a normal night it would've been Blake Griffin, but since he was feeling a little under the weather they sent out Matt Barnes instead. Courtney groaned inwardly seeing him walk up to the table. She was annoyed that he was the next player to be interviewed, and at the same time was looking forward to giving him a hard time.
"Matt you certainly had a career game out there tonight. How did it feel to have so many things go right?" The bigger man sitting next to Courtney asked.
"Yeah it was a good night. It's nice to have games like that every once in a while. It's nice having refs that will let us just play too," Matt answered.
Courtney was in shock. He basically just left it wide open for someone to take a stab at him.
"It certainly is your game when the refs don't call you out. What was that technical call all about?" Courtney asked cutting someone else off in the process.
