Darious's POV
1) "Trip! Where is the TV remote?"
2) Of course, she's yelling from across the house at my father.
3) "Darious had it last!"
4) "No! Dad had it last!" I yell back from the safety of the room I left behind nine years ago.
5) "That's a false claim!"
6) "Where is the gosh dang remote?"
7) "Check on the TV!" I yell.
8) "Found it!" she recalled.
9) Jeez, my family, who lives in a mansion, really likes to yell across the entire house. I swear they would wake up the neighborhood. Like, for example, when I came out as gay to them, my mom squealed so loud I swore she would have woken up all of California. She is so loud all the time.
10) Tyler, my best friend, walks into my old room and plops down onto the bed.
11) "Ever heard of knocking?" My family has no respect for privacy.
12) "Jenton doesn't want to come out."
13) Tyler came out 5 months ago as gay, and now he wants his boyfriend, Jenton, to come out to his family, which Jenton has expressed over and over again that he isn't comfortable with coming out just yet.
14) "Well, you most certainly can't force him to."
15) "I know, but I just really want to be able to be out in public with him instead of hiding from his family all the time."
16) "I understand that, but you need to give him some time before he comes out. If you can't give him time, then you need to leave him before you make it even harder for him to come out because he is scared of the consequences that come with it."
17) "Dang, it's almost as if you're speaking from experience," his voice was laced with sarcasm because I actually did go through that.
18) "Shut up! You're just dating him for the fun of it."
19) "But that's the fun part."
20) Laughing, he gets up and walks out of my room, leaving the door ajar, which just so happens to be my biggest pet peeve. Tyler also knows that I hate seeing others being played with like a toy. Jenton and Tyler started dating a few weeks ago and it's making me furious because Tyler is going to have Jenton come out as gay and then act like a total homophobe towards him. I know this because he's done it before. I don't know why I still hang out with him anymore.
21) I met Jenton 3 years ago at a get-together party my dad had hosted for the town. When I met him, he had this smell, like flowers and the ocean. He also had the aura of a hybrid, which are very rare and extremely powerful. I am a vampire. Shocker, I know. Nobody knows this fact except for my family and any other vampires. All vampires have a Bloodmate. A Bloodmate is our soulmate, the one we're supposed to be with for the rest of our lives. Jenton also just so happens to be my Bloodmate but when I met him, he was only 14 years old. I have not allowed myself to see him since and told myself that I would have to wait until he was at least 18, but my best friend is a manipulative freak, and is going to hurt Jenton, which is why I will have to step in as I can't stand the idea of my mate being hurt by this arsehole.
22) I get up and walk down the stairs. Walking towards the kitchen, I catch a glimpse of my mom and Trip, who's my mom's husband, watching TV. I have always cared for my mom, so I look after her. Trip is a good guy and treats me as if I were his own son, and treats Alyxian, my daughter, like the queen she is. This is what that note said:

I know I have no right to ask you of this, but please take care of my infant. She is so young and deserves a better life than constant war and battle. Her birthday is May 12, and she is two months old. She was born to the blood of an omega and conceived by the blood of a vampire. You must protect her from the council so that they do not execute her. She is already showing signs of a Mage, which I do not understand how. Darious, I know we have a very bad history, but I trust you to do whatever you can to protect this little girl.
Her name is Alyxian Allysian Frontor. But feel free to change her last name and switch the middle and first, but you must not change her name completely as it shows her strength and bravery.
