The mirror was slightly smudged due to me not bothering to clean it. I rarely use it anyway. No matter how I dress, everyone finds me attractive. Yet the butterflies in my stomach forced me over to the glass hung in the bathroom.
I could hear Hayden and Alex chatting downstairs, but I didn't try listening to their boring werewolf conversation.
I did one last once over before grabbing my wallet to leave. Hayden and Joseph were sitting at the kitchen counter, Hayden with a possessive arm over his lover. Alex was standing in the middle of the kitchen, easily answering the various questions being thrown at him. He paused when he saw me walk down the stairs. His puppy dog eyes widened the moment he saw me, filling with raw emotion.
"Ready to go?" I asked him, stuffing my wallet in my pocket. He nodded eagerly as if I just asked a child if they want candy.
"I'll text you," Joseph told me, giving me a pointed look. He meant that he'd text me when my grandfather left. I simply nodded and turned to the door. Alex eagerly followed.
"Don't do anything stupid!" Hayden called after us in his best fatherly tone he could muster.
Alex rushed in front of me to open the passenger's door. He gave a nervous smile as I climbed in and thanked him. Blazen had given me a lecture about filtering my sarcasm around Alex. I tried very hard not to roll my eyes during the conversation but ultimately failed.
"Where are we going exactly?" I asked as soon as he started driving off.
"There is a museum that is featuring old medical devices and tools dating all the way back to Ancient Egypt. I got us tickets, if that's okay with you?" I was in shock for a second, causing the wolf to glance at me several times anxiously. "I mean we don't have to but Blaze told me you want to go to medical school-"
"It sounds perfect," I cut him off. "I hope it won't be too boring for you, though."
He shook his head immediately. "I'm a history buff, so I'm almost excited as you."
Alex played classical music during the drive, something he probably also learned from Blaze. He had really done his research on me, which oddly made me proud. I liked people who were committed to something, or in this case someone.
Once we arrived at the museum, Alex hurried over to my car side once again to open my door. If this was anyone else I'd gag and roll my eyes but for some reason it just made me smile.
"You know, you don't have to do that. All my appendages are working just fine," I teased him, giving him a cheeky smile. He blushed but didn't respond. He really was a pure gentleman, someone I wasn't quite used to in my life. I'm used to people's quick lust over me, just long enough to absorb their energy before being kicked to the streets again.
We walked side by side to the museum that was surprisingly lively. Alex did everything he was supposed to do. He held the door for me, paved me a path through the crowd to avoid being touched, and led me to an empty part of the exhibit.
"Ooo!" He yelped, pointing to an saw used for childbirth. "This room is all about birthing tools!" He seemed more excited than me. I followed him in, admiring all the old items and reading many of the captions. I made mental notes of why they became outdated and why our tools today are better medically.
"What the heck was this used for?"
I turned toward Alex to see him examining a glass tube. "That's an old incubator for premature babies." He perked up at my explanation.
"Wow, this looks so different compared to the one we saw at the clinic." He stared at it intensely as if he was trying to dissect it.
As we walked through the exhibit, Alex was not afraid to ask me many medical questions. He constantly asked what certain devices were used for and why. He was curious, and I didn't mind sedating his overactive mind.
