Chapter 8

A/N: Hey guysss!! SO SORRY for the long wait for this chapter, I lost motivation, had a bunch of shit happen, got really busy, then sprained my hip, then had a family member die- LOLZ. I KNOW I KNOW, I'm terrible at schedules and getting things out I'M SORRY. Also I've never played Mario Kart so I am absolutely bullshitting this first bit LMAO. I also completely forgot to mention Ash's PhD in her character info, so I'm sorry if it seems random.
Ash has a PhD in Marine Science, and she specifies in the Whale Shark. She went to college in Australia and finished her PhD program in 3 years.

"WHAT THE HELL, NICK!"

I throw my head back as I laugh, watching as Larry throws one of the thousands of Pochita plushies at my brother. The TV screen blares Larry's defeat in bright colors and cheerful music.

"YOU CHEATED!" He screeches, glaring at Nick, "Using the blue shell is cheating!"

"You're making up rules! It is not!" Nick fires back, throwing the plush at Larry and hitting him smack in the face.

We'd all decided to spend the day together, Larry announcing a Mario Kart tournament; swearing up and down that he was the best player in the house.

So far, he's yet to win a round, both Nick and Tanner overtaking him easily. I chose to watch the brutal defeat, instead curling up on the best spot on the couch with a fuzzy blanket -courtesy of Isaac- and my latest book.

Isaac appears from the kitchen, flopping his body down onto the couch beside me and causing me to bounce a bit on the soft material. He leans over, pressing his large form against mine.

"Hi." He says with a small smile, "Still reading your fairy porn?"
I grin and shove him lightly, "Excuse you, A Court of Mist and Fury is far more than simply fairy porn. It's an emotional story of escaping abuse and finding your soulmate... who happens to be your hot fairy enemy."

He rolls his eyes, pressing a kiss to my forehead and throwing his arm around my shoulders.

"My mistake. I have a surprise for you." From his pocket, he pulls two small slips of paper and sets them atop my book. I glance at him once more before picking one up.

GEORGIA AQUARIUM: WEEKEND ADMISSION

My heart jumps into my throat. I've been wanting to go to the Georgia Aquarium for years. I wanted to go as a celebration after I got my PhD, but we ended up having a family emergency soon after, and the trip had to be canceled.

I turn to Isaac with wide eyes,

"OH MY GOD?! YOU DIDN'T?!" My book falls to the ground as I launch myself at Isaac, tackling him back onto the couch. I press an excited kiss to his forehead, then his cheek, then finally landing one on his lips.
I hear my brother groan at the sight, loudly complaining about the 'corruption' of his sister. Isaac laughs in response and presses another kiss to my lips with a smile.
"They're for this weekend, and our flights are at 10 o'clock tonight. I have a hotel room booked a couple minutes down the street from the aquarium."

He pushes himself up, so that we're both upright on the couch.

"Hey- absolutely not, you're not staying in a hotel room together." Nick is glaring at Isaac, annoyed that he'd even suggest it.

"Nicky, we sleep in the same bed every night, it's not a big deal." I point out, rolling my eyes at his antics.
"This is different. You'll be in a different building, where I can't see or hear you."

I laugh, throwing a fluffy pillow at his face.

"You're stupid if you think that you being around would stop us if we wanted to do anything."
