A/n I'm not sure what happened to the original title, I can't seem to find it or remember it, lol.

Kelly was a 15 years old girl who lived on a big farm with many animals she had a pet cat named Snuggles, a dog named Poppy and her horse named Kitkat. She loved her pets but most of all she loved Kitkat. She would go riding around the country side on Kitkat to meet up with her two friends named Carly who had a white horse with grey stops named Misty and Holly who had a black horse named Liquorice.

Kelly's two friends lived on a farm near by when they met up they would journey with their horses into the mountains behind their farms. The journey was always fun they would pack lunch, a small billy and matches to light up a smell fire to make a cut of tea on. It was always fun planning their outing.

The three friends had been planning to go out riding it had been raining for days and finally the rain had stopped and changed to a beautiful summer morning. Today is going to the best day Kelly, Carly and Holly decided to ride to the old mountain hut just behind the hill they had to ride past the river and up the path it takes about an hour.

That mourning the three friends packed a bag saddled up their horses and started Out the farm gate, they walked up to the hay shed and feed their horses a hand full of hay and a bucket of fresh water then afterwards they jumped on their horses and rode off down the track.

Riding was fun to the girls they rode up the path chatting away about an old legend that they had learned in school that week. The legend was of Tāwhirimātea. The legend of Tāwhirimātea is the tale of how he and his other siblings lived between the embrace of Ranginui (sky) and Papatūānuku (land). Tāwhirimātea didn't mind the pressure of living in complete darkness, or that space between him and his other siblings was so small that he had to crawl to get around.

But the other children had had enough. After a meeting was held the children decided that their parents had to separate. Tāwhirimātea disagreed. He was absolutely outraged by the thought of hurting his mother and father and spoke out against it. A fight broke out between the siblings and Tāwhirimātea. Tāne Mahuta was the only one who asked for quiet, he believed that his parents needed to be separated, if they were to live and strive. So he lay on his back, pulled his legs to his chest then pushed them apart from each other. Tāwhirimātea lashed out in anger to all of his siblings and stated "I will never let you rest for what you have done; even your children won't be safe from my clutches! This will be my domain forever and you will always feel my wrath" This meaning that everyone who walks the earth will feel his wind. However over time, Tāwhirimātea listens to advice from his parents and forgives his siblings. On those days the weather is fine, clear and calm. But sometimes he is remembers the pain his parents felt when they were separated, and the longing they still have for each other. On those days he sends tornadoes, hurricanes, and cyclones to hurt the descendants of those that betrayed him and his whanau.

The girls were so busy chatting that they hadn't realised how far up the track they had travelled. They had reached the river so they carefully headed the horses across the river to the old hut. On arrival they unsaddled and tethered their horses under a nearby tree. The girls collected some wood and made a small fire to make cups of tea and sat around the fire to eat their lunch. It was such a lovely day and the girls spent the afternoon making daisy chains and telling each other more stories. It was a perfect day as they gathered and packed up their belongings. The gentle breeze whispered the sun shone as they saddled up their horses to head on the trail home.

The day out had been wonderful as they reached Kelly's farm gate she said to her friends that Tāwhirimātea was smiling down on them the weather had been lovely. Holly and carly agreed as they said their goodbyes to Kelly and parted ways to head home.

THE END
