17. Chapter
There was a good mood among the celebrating Nagas. Everyone knew what was about to happen, only I was groping in the dark. Until now I have not been informed about the upcoming ritual and what it is all about. One thing I know for sure, and that's about me and Iseel. A bad feeling came over me immediately.
The women of the village and Samira came towards me, which made me gasp in surprise. I didn't expect them to dare to be near me. Samira soaked her claws in a cauldron of blood. Blood from today's prey. She used it to draw various signs all over my body. The women imitated her. The men, on the other hand, crowded around Iseel and patted him on the shoulder one after the other. Each time they said something to him that I couldn't make out from a distance. Besides, I didn't really want to know either.
"What are you doing there?" I asked Samira, who was about to smear the animal's blood on my face. Unconsciously, I tilted my torso away from the blood near my face. I didn't exactly feel the need to have blood near my mouth and nose. Otherwise I would have to endure the confession of blood all the time.
"It's a ritual for us when two people unite spiritually. These marks were worn by our ancestors during the war between the Harpies and Nagas. At that time we suffered many losses. Our people would have been almost wiped out if it weren't for our ancestors. Respect for the dead, victory over enemies, and hope that our people will continue to multiply well and remain undiscovered by the human race... We also want to welcome you to our people, especially to our family. After all, you are the mate of Iseel, our chief," she explained to me. "And now come. The Elder will bring you together under the stars and moon. As soon as Iseel has officially recognized you as his mate, we'll start eating," Samira continued with her explanation. The ritual reminded me a bit of a wedding. The thought immediately gave me an oppressive feeling. There was no way I wanted to be associated with Iseel forever. All I wanted was to get out of here and never set foot on the island again. Before that I had to get Iseel's trust to tell me the location of Max and Kim. After that, we could come up with a plan and get out of here.
I silently let her paint my body. The more the sun went down, the faster my heartbeat against my ribs. My hands started sweating from fear. Any moment I will be bound to Iseel forever.
Samira carefully took my hand in hers. She saw my sad expression and squeezed my hand for comfort. "The ceremony begins now," she informed me quietly, pulling me towards the protest where all the Nagas have gathered around it. Torches were stuck in the ground in front of the dais. The distance between the torches was always the same. Samira led me straight to Iseel, who was smiling the whole time. His fangs reflected the light of the torches. In that look he looked more menacing than ever. I felt like I was walking straight towards my doom. With every step I took, my heart took a pounding. Like someone ramming a knife in with every step. Tears wanted to come out of my eyes, but I held them in check. Iseel should not see my weakness. Deep down I knew he was feasting on my tears.
Samira gave my hand to Iseel, who took it with pleasure and pulled me next to him. Now that I was standing next to him, I was aware of our height difference. He towered over me with two heads. Its snake tail and strong structure made it taller.
In front of us stood an older Naga, whose long white hair reached to his waist. He had a yellow snake tail with red spots. He had red eyes to match his snake tail. Despite everything, his face showed not a single wrinkle, although he is said to be the oldest in the village. He spread his arms and began to speak: "We have gathered to unite the two under the stars and during our brave ancestors. Our chief was lucky enough to find his mate in a human. Fate brought them together." He paused as a male Naga handed him a silver band and wrapped it around our hands. "This bond will connect you on the soul level. A bond that will connect you forever and cannot be broken," he said. Once again, a Naga stepped towards us. This time, however, it was a young Naga. She was just up to my shoulders, but her face looked young. She bowed her head respectfully and held something in front of her. On her hand she wore a kind of belt, which seemed to be made of solid gold.
I bravely looked into Iseel's eyes. For me there is no escape after the ritual. At least not until help comes from outside. If it was too late for me, at least I wanted to get Kim and Max out of prison and off this cursed island. The only question was...how.
Iseel took the belt from the young Naga and wrapped it around my waist. Only afterwards, of course, when our hands were loosened. The band was loose and slipped down to my waist. The eldest held his arms up and tilted his head back. A smile graced his mouth. Looking around for a moment, I realized he wasn't the only one doing this. The other Nagas had also raised their arms and stretched their heads towards the dark sky. "The bride wears this ribbon as a sign of fertility. May the snake goddess bless you with lots of offspring," he cried out loud to the world. At the last sentence, my heart sank, because I didn't want to carry Iseel's children under my heart.
"To end the ritual, I ask the chief to seal his mate's mark with a kiss," the elder continued. Iseel was not long in coming, because he grabbed my hip with one hand and the other hand went to the back of my head. He grabbed a fistful of my hair, forcing me to tilt my head back. I didn't resist the grip because I didn't want to embarrass Iseel in front of his people and I didn't want to be punished by him afterwards by sexually assaulting me. "He doesn't need to tell me that twice," Iseel hissed and came dangerously close to me with his face. I could feel his warm breath on my face and he whispered something so softly to me that was only meant for my ears: "Be nice. Then I'll be gentle for once in our nest." A slight nod was my answer. It would be nice if he didn't touch me anymore.
Iseel kissed my forehead. Then he put his tongue on my cheek and licked away a tear that found its way through my eye. A shiver came over me as soon as I felt Iseel's wet muscles. His tongue stayed against my skin as he made his way down. His claws on my hip dig into my skin. Not so bad that it bleeds, but still painful.
When he reached my neck, he wet his mark with his saliva. As he gathered in front of me community a kiss on the bite. Involuntarily, the lust overcame me as soon as Iseel came even close to the mark I received from him in pain. A bite I'll never get rid of.
"Now you are mine. Mentally, physically and spiritually. Get ready tonight, I'll fill you up with my semen until you carry my offspring," he hissed against my neck.
