The Fifth Champion, Harry Potter Year 4

20. The First Task

Lilly's POV
I woke up, got ready, and walked with Harry and Hermione to the Great Hall and ate breakfast.
Harry asked if I was coming I nodded. We walked around the Black Lake three times thinking and then retired to the library. I took off my glasses and rubbed my eyes. Hermione was getting annoyed with Viktor being in the library all the sime so we left. We hung out in the Common room all day.

Harry was worried. He was sick to his stomach. As we were going to Herbology with Hermionie I noticed Cedric and told Harry that he didn't know, we followed him and we told him about the dragons. He didn't believe us, but eventually he did. Moody came up to us and told that what we did was a very decent thing we did. I looked stunned. Moody helped Harry discover what he's doing for the task. He just needs help. Moody asked me what I was doing and I said, "It's a surprise!"
I helped Harry, along with Hermione, learn the Summoning Charm. Harry, Hermionie, and I scarfed down dinner fast. Hermionie and I helped Harry until like two in the morning. We went to bed after that and I went into my room and turned back time by six hours and fell asleep.

The next day I woke up really early and went down the stairs to the common room, but paused when I heard Neville and Hermionie talking. Neville said, "I may like her, but that doesn't mean she likes me back!" I wondered who this girl was that Neville liked, was I jealous, yes, but if Neville is happy, then so am I.

Anyway, Harry and I went through the day and we got called to the champions' tent. It was time...
We picked what dragon we would get out of the bag and Fleur got the Welsh Green, Krum got the Chinese Firebolt, Cedric got the Swedish Short-Snout, Harry got the Hungarian Horntail, and I got the Ukrainian Ironbelly. Cedric was going to go, then Fleur, Krum, me, and then Harry. we all paced nervously.
Then, it was my turn. I walked out and saw it. This is the largest known dragon known to the Wizarding World!!! I ran to the other side going around the circle in a counterclockwise way with the dragon throwing fire at me! I said, "Diffindo!" To the wall which was made of rock and made them into gigantic bolders. While doing this, I had to avoid its massive tail. I did a gymnastics cartwheel over it to avoid it. I said, "Wingardium Leviosa!" I moved the rock and set it so I could hide behind it while it set it on fire which allowed me to move another rock forward. Slowly, but surely, I made it to the egg. I was just about to grab it when the tail slammed me against the side and I screamed in pain. I locked eyes with it and I knew what I had to do. I was only twenty feet from the egg. I just had to get to the left of me. I ran to a boulder that was already made and I brought another bolder close by to protect me from the dragon. I dropped the bolder and climbed on top of the smaller bolder and the dragon was just about to shoot fire at me and I threw myself over him, shut his mouth by landing on my feet and ran down his back, used his tail to my advantage, by using the force that he was hitting himself with to get me off, and I swung myself with one arm, countering his force. I did a flip making me face the dragon when I landed and it brought me to stand right in front of the egg. I picked the egg up and said, "Game over, dragon." It shot fire at me one last time I tried to block it, but my head hit the boulder in the back and I blacked out with my emergency defensive shield protecting me...

I was dreaming of reality. Madam Pomfrey, with the help of Neville and Professor McGonagall, brought me to the tent and when Harry saw me he was shocked! He looked so nervous because he was next... She first healed my arm, putting it in a sling and fixed my cracked skull, fixed my ribs, and then my right ankle. I saw Harry get past his dragon without getting really hurt. Harry asked what I did as he sat on the foot of my bed. Neville was holding my good hand rubbing his thumb on the back of my band. Hermionie told him everything and said, "The dragon wasn't supposed to shoot fire at her after she got the egg." Cedric got 1st, Harry got 2ed, I got 3rd, Krum got 4th, and Fleur got 5th. I could understand points off because of time and injury, but I expected 2ed because that last shot wasn't supposed to happen. Oh well, I'm going to make it up in the Second Task.
I woke up to find Neville looking down at me and I asked, "What place did I get? What did I break?"
Neville said, "Third."
Madam Pomfrey said, "You had a dislocated shoulder, fractured elbow, shattered wrist, and over fifty bones broken in your hand! A broken ankle and a few cracked and broken ribs! Along with that, a fractured skull! You will be in that sling for a good amount of time and you'll need a crutch for a good amount of time as well!"
I thanked her and nodded; I expected worse. Harry came up and hugged me, I whimpered and cried, "Broken arm and ribs!" He pulled back and said that Ludo wanted to talk to us. I walked, well hobbled with the help of Neville, over to Ludo. He had his arm around me the whole time.
Ludo explained the next task will be on February the twenty-fourth. We had a nice long break. He said the egg has the clue for the next task.

Harry and Ron had made up, which was good, and they talked about the other champions and how they did. Neville ran back to the tent to grab my egg, I left it under my bed accidentally. Hermionie said, "I think Neville likes you. I mean, he held your hand when you were knocked out, he has been worried sick about you, and he stares at you a lot more lately."
I shook my head and said, "No one likes me, Hermione."
She said, "I don't know..."
I nodded and said thanks; we just listened the the boy's conversation after that, I paused waiting Neville. I shouted to Harry Ron, and Hermionie, "Slow down! I'm not that fast right now." We all laughed.
