36. The Parting of Ways

Lilly's POV
Dumbledore had Professor McGonagall stand guard, Snape went to get Madam Pomfrey to attend to the real Moody and then Cornelius Fudge. Harry and I walked with Dumbledore to see my dad. Dumbledore told everything about Barty, Harry told everything about the graveyard. I whimpered and my dad pulled me into a hug and I think he was crying. After Harry finished his story I said, "I was a ghost and I saw my mom. I talked to her and she said I wasn't going to die until the time was right," I looked to my dad and continued, "She said that she loves you, that you are a good father, and she was sorry for leaving you so soon." He cried and clutched me again. Harry and I were taken to the Hospital Wing and my friends attacked my with hugs.
I saw Neville and he looked so hurt. I went up to him and he let all of his anger out by screaming, "Why? Why couldn't have you told me this was going to be happening? Do you not trust me? Do you have any idea what you have out me through?! Lilly!Everyone was staring at him speechless and when Dumbledore tried to explain to Neville. I motioned for him to stop, Sirius was growling at him and I said, "Back off, Snuffles..." I said to Neville, "No one could know, not even you, Neville. I trust you 100% and I know exactly what I put you through. Losing someone and to only see them again is hard. This was the hardest thing I could ever do, Neville. I am so sorry."

He pulled me in a bone crushing hug and cried. I threw my arms around him and cried along with him. He said, "I'm sorry for yelling, I was so scared I lost you!"
I muttered, "I know, I know, I forgive you!"

umbledore explain he wanted us to go to bed and that the dog was staying with us. I kissed Neville good night, Sirius climbed up into my bed and kissed my face. I petted him and covered him up. Neville smiled to me and I took my potion falling asleep cuddling up to my dad's warm dog body. For once in my life. I didn't dream of anything.

Harry and I woke up to shouts. We pulled our glasses on and my dad was up and growling at Fudge. Dumbledore tried to explain it to him, but he wouldn't listen. I finally piped up and said, "Minister, he is telling you the truth!"
He said to me, "Lilly Black, also here as well, not surprising! You have an excuse because you were temporarily dead, so none of your word counts! So shut up!" I was about to throw something at him. I was livid, but I had to calm Sirius down saying, "Don't worry, he will get what he deserves."

After and argument further, Fudge gave Harry and I our winnings, neither of us wanted to touch it. Dumbledore sent Bill to contact his dad, Professor McGonagall was sent to get Hagrid and Madame Maxine to his office, and Madam Pomfrey was sent to get Winky to the kitchens. Dumbledore had Sirius turn into his usual form and he put his arm around me. Neville was shocked and shouting until I said, "Neville, shut up! I will explain it all later!" Ron did the same for his mom.
Dumbledore had Sirius and Snape shake hands and dad resumed his spot next to me. Sirius was sent to warn people and I look at him and he said, "You'll see me soon. I promise, I have to do what I have to do." He hugged Harry and me and said to Neville, "Your a good lad, Neville. Take care of my daughter." He said, "I love you, Lilly."
I hugged him once more and said, "I love you more, dad." He set off as a black dog Dumbledore left and Harry and I were under orders to go back to bed.
I looked at Neville and he turned away from me and muttered, "I don't know who you are anymore, Lilly..." He was sitting on the bed next to me and wouldn't look at me. My eyes teared up and I took my potion without another word. I wanted to escape reality for a while...
