Y/N sits in the Great Hall, barely eating.  All she can think about is the task.  Matteo is right, they are running out of time.  And with the little slip up from Draco, Harry Potter and his friends are on more alert than ever.  She is grateful Matteo talked her into breaking up with him at the start of the year, not sure if she could handle lying to him more than she already was.

Draco walks over to her, and upon noticing his presence she stands.

"What did you do?" she hisses quietly.

"It was meant for Dumbledore, but that filthy girl got her hands on the locket," Draco runs a hand through his hair, clearly distraught.

After knowing the boy for many years, Y/N knows Draco would never hurt anyone.  Sure, he'll through a few spells out during a duel and has a big mouth, but he is clearly bothered deeply about what he did.

Draco looks behind Y/N, suddenly becoming still.  The girl glances over her shoulder, finding the golden trio to be staring the the two.  And from the looks of it, they were just talking about them.  She looks back to Draco, worried, as she can see the panic in him starting to build.  He sucks in a deep breath, loosening his tie to try and not feel as suffocated.  He swiftly turns, quickly leaving the Great Hall, glancing back to see if anyone is following.  Y/N is, right on his heel.  Now all he's done is confirm any suspicions the trio had.

Draco enters the boy lavatory, slamming his hands down on the sink, letting out a frustrated yell.

"Draco..." Y/N speaks gently.

"I can't do this anymore!" he yells.

Y/N winces at his outburst, trying to comfort him, "We have to..."

Draco glances up in the mirror in front of him, ready to snap back with some witty remark.  Instead, he spins around, his back pressed against the sink, his eyes wide with fear.  Confused, Y/N turns around, finding herself caught in the middle of Draco and Harry.

"Y/N, you need to leave," Draco says shakily, not wanting her to get hurt.

"But-" she starts to protest.

"I said go!" he shoves her away.

The second she is no longer in between them, the spells start flying.  Her eyes widen, fearing how far this fight will go.

"No, stop!" she says, trying to pull Harry away.  "Harry!"

Once Draco is down, blood escaping his body fast, Harry finally looks to her.  She doesn't look back, doesn't notice the immediate regret in his face.  She is only focused on making sure Draco is okay.  A sob escapes Y/N's lips as she opens Draco's blood soaked shirt, trying to see the damage he caused.

"I suggest you leave," she spits out angrily in between her crying, running past him to get help.

She runs to the first place she can think, Snape's office.  She knows he will heal Draco with no questions asked, seeing as he knows everything that is going on.

"Professor Snape!" she cries, entering the room unannounced.

Thankfully, the only people in there are Snape and Matteo, who must have been talking about business.  The boys face is angry, clearly upset to have been interrupted.  But his face quickly contorts into a worried state, finding her hands to be covered in blood.

"Y/N?  What happened?  Are you hurt?" he asks, coming closer.

"It's Draco.  Please, follow me," she speaks rushed, grabbing Matteo's hand in her bloody one and pulling him along behind her.  Snape follows closely.

Harry must have headed her advice, finding him no where to be seen when she returns.  Y/N begins sobbing again, bending down to Draco to try and help.  But Matteo gently pulls her away, making room for Snape to work.

She turns in his arms, now facing him.  She wraps her arms around his neck, crying into his chest.  Matteo holds her tightly, softly rubbing her back.

"It was Potter, wasn't it?" the boy asks, slightly muffled by her hair.  At her small nod, he grits his teeth, "Did he hurt you?"

Y/N pulls away from him for a brief second to shake her head no, before returning to bury her face into his now wet shirt.

"He will be fine.  I will tend to him some more," Snape stands, facing the two.  "I suggest you both go to the common room and lay low".

Matteo nods, keeping his arms around Y/N's waist the whole way back to the common room.  Thankfully, all other students are at dinner, leaving the halls empty.  Once they return, Matteo takes her up to his room, helping her clean off her bloody hands.

Y/N has calmed down a bit, now only silent tears escape.

"You should rest," Matteo says, almost in a whisper.

Y/N gives a small nod, not wanting to do anything else.  She looks up at him from her seat on his bed, silently pleading with her eyes for him to join her.  Without a word, he gets into the bed, opening his arms for her to lay on his chest.  Y/N takes a shaky breath and she lays down, soaking his shirt with more tears.  He gently rubs her back and arms as she finally drifts off to sleep, finding comfort in his hold.

Y/N wakes up, a comforting smell hitting her nostrils, rubbing the sleep out of her sore eyes.  Once her eyes adjust to the light, she looks around the room, finally remembering what happened.  She finally realizes the comforting smell upon looking to her left.  Matteo.  He's still sleeping, with his arms wrapped around her.  She tries to sit up.

"Why are you up so early?" he mumbles, keeping his eyes closed.

"I'm sorry-I didn't mean to spend the night," Y/N throws the covers off her.

Before she can get out of bed, Matteo tightens his grip around her, keeping her in place, "Where do you think you're going?"

Y/N huffs, flopping back down, "I just thought you would like me to get out of your hair".

Matteo doesn't respond to this, but after a few seconds he says, "The slugclub is tonight...we don't have to go if you don't want to".

Y/N turns to him, surprised, finding him now staring at her.  She blushes, realizing he was watching her, and mentally scolds herself for thinking how cute he is when he has just woken up.  She starts thinking about the events that took place last night, though, and really doesn't want to see Harry.  But she will be with the safety of other students, and Professor Slughorn.  And she knows the Dark Lord was heavily involved with the slugclub during his time at Hogwarts.  Even though Matteo doesn't necessarily like his father, deep down all he wants to do is try and impress him.

"No, no.  We will go.  Besides, you have to see that dress that took me two hours to choose," Y/N gives a small, playful smile.  "We wouldn't want Theo's time to be wasted, now would we?"

Matteo lets out an amused chuckle, "Whatever you say".
