She could just about hear Flint’s shouts now, but her mind was too full of flames to understand the words that came tumbling out of his mouth. A force that felt stronger than the gods themselves pushed her down, but somehow she managed to stay upright without her legs giving in. She had some unknown power now. After a moment, she noticed that her paws felt hotter and more painful than the rest of her. She pulled her eyes open wide to see that spurts of flames were gushing out her fur.
Gazing upwards, she saw that the stalagmites were now red hot pyramids decorated with dancing flames choreographed by her fingers. If she could do this, she must have the power to speak.

"Flint! Take the stone!" she gasped, not knowing whether she had spoken the right words.

"I can't take it!"

"You can! You have to!"

A sharp spike of violet light pierced the warm tones of Ziggy's flame, then faded to a black shadow. The purple in Flint's eyes shimmered alongside the swirling mass of magic coming from the stone in his paw.

"I'm not feeling so good..." Ziggy shouted, her eyes wide with fear. But Flint couldn't respond. He was in just as much pain as she had been in. He couldn't move or talk, just like what had happened to her.

The world around her began to spin, sending her flying towards the ground. She didn't know whether the world was actually spinning, but either way she knew that she was in trouble. All of the pain in her body rushed up to her head, sending her into a place in her mind where light was dark and dark was light. Where the colours were wrong and everything was blurry. But the flames did not go unnoticed. They flickered and flashed. They billowed out thick, black smoke until it was hard for Ziggy to breathe. They seemed almost angry that she was fading out into her mind's strange world. The orange light weaved it's way into her body in a flash. Then, it all went black.

The world around them had lost its power and light, and when the two woke up they found themselves in a completely normal cave. A tingling sensation itched at Ziggy’s wrist, and she looked down to check it.
“Oh no…” she exclaimed.
“What..what?”Flint asked, his eyes still closed.
“The stones…”
“Just tell me what’s wrong!”
“Look at your arm, you dingus!”

“I don’t understand what you’re so worried abo… OH POTATO, it’s in my arm!”
“What happened while we were unconscious?”
“I’m not sure. All I know is that there’s a piece of stone attached to my arm.”
Their gems glistened and glowed with a dim aura that floated around them. Ziggy began tugging at the stone, and Flint joined her.
“It’s not coming out!” she shouted, her voice filled with frustration.
“Mine isn’t either.”
For a moment, thoughts filled the air like mist and fog. The feelings moved and changed, danced and wrestled, fighting over their minds.
Ziggy ran her fingers over the smooth, ridged surface of the stone in her wrist. The fire inside of it sent flames shooting through her body. She felt powerful, although she didn’t know why. A powerful shot of heat burst through her paw, filling her with shock. She looked around but her blurry vision stopped her from seeing anything. Her mind whirled with flames and feelings that moved so fast she couldn’t tell which was which.
Suddenly, she concentrated on the amber gem and thought about it.
“Flint? Do y-you…” she stuttered.
“What… what is it?”
“Do you think… Do you think it’s that kind of gem?” she continued.
Flint's midnight eyes widened as he examined the gemstone. He looked up at his sister, his pupils filled with disbelief.
“There’s no way… Right?” Flint questioned, “There hasn’t been a stone in the area for years!”
“But, it has to be!” Ziggy replied.
She questioned the possibilities this gem could open up. Then she realized. If I have this stone… It means that… I have special powers!
Ziggy's mind rushed with excitement.
"Flint! It's like what's in the COMICS!!!" she grinned.

“Flint! I have an idea!” she exclaimed.
Ziggy stood up and punched the air and stomped the ground rapidly, trying to figure out how to use the gems abilities.
“What are you doing Zigs?” he inquired.
He studied Ziggy’s movements and thought about what Zero had taught them about powers. Then he gazed at Ziggy’s continuous movements again. Flint realized what she was trying to do and started repeating her actions. Ziggy focused on the flames that were still rotating in her mind, trying with all her might to let them out of her imagination. She could feel as her palms heated up and her limbs boiled with anger. She held her breath anxiously. Ziggy’s eyes moved to Flint. A dark shadow armored him, slowly covering his body. With a final flash of black, the darkness swallowed him. Ziggy lost all focus of her flames.
“Flint? Flint, where are you?” she boomed.
“Ziggy, I’m right here you know!” he replied, patting her on the shoulder.
Ziggy whipped around, flicking her eyes from side to side.
“But, I don’t see you!”
Flint gazed down at his own hands.
“I can’t see me either!” he exclaimed, his voice shaking, “It's my stone! Try and do something with yours!”
“I am trying!!”
“Well try something else!”
A burning itch began to make its way up her throat, causing her to fall over coughing. Black soot and smoke choked her, and with a final splutter, orange flames shot out from between her red-hot fangs. Flint jumped backwards as the flames tumbled out of her volcano-like mouth.
“Zigs?! You ok?”

 “Zigs?! You ok?”
