After the difficult mission, Yosuke and Kugisaki's injuries were promptly taken care of. Unfortunately, the two would be met with bad news upon their awakening. Itadori was dead. He let Sukuna out to beat the special grade curse, who turned out to have had one of his fingers. Normally, Itadori would've been able to switch back, but Sukuna ate the finger, increasing his power, weakening Itadori's ability to switch, and unfortunately, Sukuna ripped out Itadori's heart after his brief scuffle with Megumi. Itadori was now dead, and the trio, originally quartet, was now just that, a trio."

It was a bright, sunny day, and the trio was sitting on the stairs outside of Jujutsu High. The mood was pretty gloomy.

"'Live a long life'?" Kugisaki wondered, quoting Itadori. "Doesn't mean much when you go and die yourself." She continued. She then spoke up again after a brief pause. "Is this first time having a partner die for either of you?"

"First time for one my age." Megumi said, "Same here." Yosuke also said. "It feels...different when it's someone you know personally. I mean, I barely knew the guy, but to see him die so soon..."

Kugisaki nodded in agreement. "In any case, you two seem to be taking it well, considering that."

"Same to you." Megumi replied.

"Of course. I only knew him for about two weeks. I'm not some simple woman who breaks down bawling when a guy I barely know dies." There is a brief pause after she says this. "Jeez."

Despite her calmness, it was pretty clear that Kugisaki wanted to cry. Not too much, but a little. Megumi and Yosuke wanted to do the same.

"It's hot, huh?" Megumi asked, trying to change the subject.

"Yeah. Wonder if it's time for summer uniforms." Kugisaki agreed.

"Maybe so. I checked the weather report; it's probably gonna get hotter from here." Yosuke went along with it, but even someone as cheerful as him couldn't help but feel gloomy.

There was another brief pause as the cicadas sang their summer song, which was then promptly interuppted by footsteps.

"Whats this?" The source of the footsteps was none other than Maki Zen'in. She looked at the three. "You're looking more glum than usual, Megumi. This a wake or something?"

"Zen'in-senpai." he says in response

"Don't call me by my last name." She reminded him. Then another voice spoke up.

"Maki! Maki!" it was Panda, and he was behind a tree along with Inumaki. "I'm talking here." She scolded his oh so rude interruption.

"Y-You don't know why they're so down?" He asked. "What are you talking about?" she asked.

"Someone really did die yesterday! One of the first-year boys!" Now Maki's done it. "Bonito flakes," Inumaki said.

Maki physically, mentally, and possibly spiritually cringed, realizing what she's done. "You should've told me sooner! Now I look like some heartless, cold-blooded demon!"

"That's exactly how you came off," Panda confirmed. "Tuna and mayo," Inumaki agreed. "You're supposed to try and make them feel better!" Maki was angry now.

"Who are those guys?" Nobara askef. "Our second-year upperclassmen." Megumi replies.

"You have to be kinder to your underclassmen." Panda argued.

"There's more to kindness than being soft to them." Maki rebutted.

"Zen'in-senpai is the best of all of the students at wielding cursed tools." Megumi explains.

"And is best girl out of all the jujutsu sorcerers," Yosuke added "no offense to you, Kugisaki."

"Whatever, I still have simps." Kugisaki said

"Salmon roe." Inumaki replied to Maki. "That's the cursed speech user, Inumaki-senpai. He can only speak jn ingredients of rice balls," he explained.

"He's a bit softer when Yuta's around, though," Panda said to himself.

"Panda-senpai" Megumi gaves no further explanation. "There's one more, Okkotsu-senpai, who's the only one I can openly respect," he said before standing up, "but he's overseas right now."

"You're not adding more about the panda named Panda?" Kugisaki asked.

"He's a talking panda. What more could you want?" Yosuke asked.

~~~
"Man, sorry about this," Panda apologized. "And when you're in mourning," he put his hands together and bowed his head. "Please forgive us for that. The truth is, we'd like you to participate in the Kyoto Sister School Exchange event."
"Kyoto Sister School Exchange event?" Kugisaki askef, "What's that?"
"A get-together with other tech school in Kyoto." Megumi explained.
"Hold up, isn't that mostly a second and third-year thing?" Yosuke wondered.
"And those stupid third-years are suspended right now," Maki clarified, "so you need to participate."
"What do you do at this event? Smash Bros?" Kugisaki asked. "I won't lose if it's the Wii verson. I'll meteor smash so you cant comeback."
"Then let's make a three-man team. The exchange has the principles of the Tokyo and Kyoto schools each propose a form of competition to be held over the course of two days. Though that's just how it is on paper." Panda explained. "Every year, the first day is team battles, and the second day is individual battles."
"Salmon."
"Individual and team battles?" Kugisaki sounded confused. "We fight?! Agasint other jujutsu sorcerers?!"
"Yeah, it's a jujutsu battle where anything but killing goes," Maki said, sounding a bit scary.
"We'll train you well so you don't get killed," Panda reassured.
"Wait, do you have time for that?" Kugisaki asks. Jesus, so many questions.
"She has a point," Yosuke agreed, "I mean, it isn't exactly a rare thing, but aren't we kind of understaffed right now? Like, so much so they need to send first-years on a professional-level mision?"
"That's a good point," Panda agreed, "for now, we are. The glum emotions people harbor from late winter to spring cause an outburst of curses in the early summer, so that's our busy season."
"Sometimes we're busy all year long," Maki added, "but things should be settling down soon."
"I suppose that makes sense," Yosuke nodded.
"So, you'll do it, right? You just had a partner die on you, after all."
"We're in." The trio said in unison, looking determined to kick the crap out of the Kyoto students. "I have to get stronger. I'll do anything to achieve that." They said, each of them thinking about their dear, departed friend.
"But if I decide that this training and exchange event is pointless, I'm quitting immediately," Kugisaki went straight to the point.
"Same here."
"Absolutely. We aren't messing around anymore, not after what happened."
Maki couldn't help but chuckle a bit as Panda spoke up, "well, people this cocky are all the more worthwhile to train."
"Bonito flakes."
With a newfound determination to get stronger, the jujutsu sorcerers got right to work.
