"Aphid! Slow down! I can't catch up!" Avril gasped, laughing hard and panting to catch her breath.
"Then hurry up, slow poke!" Aphid taunted, running a least a few yards ahead of her. Avril wasn't known for her physical abilities-she didn't have any. So when she was struggling to keep up with her twin brother, Aphid, on the first day of Hogwarts, she was a little bit annoyed with him. Only a little. She could never stay mad at him for long.
They had just gotten off the train ride to Hogwarts, and both were excited out of their minds. A magic school! Finally, they could join Draco at Hogwarts. It was their brother's fifth year. They would be joining as first years, but would stay with their brother and the other fifth years. Special request from their dad. Avril and her brother didn't know why, but they were grateful. They would surely be lost without him. Avril finally csught up with her brother, and both headed into the Great Hall with the other first years. Avril couldn't wait to get sorted! She knew she'd be in Slytherin, all the Malfoys were. Draco, her Daddy, her Daddy's daddy, and so on.
Aphid was called first. "Malfoy, Aphid. Please come to the sorting hat." Avril smiled at him encouragingly. The sorting hat barely touched his head before it shouted, "Slytherin!" Loud whoops of delights could be heard from the Slytherin table, and Aphid ran over to Draco, looking back at Avril only once to smile at her. Avril walked up the the sorting hat after he name was called, not a doubt in her mind. She sat on the stool and smiled, looking at the large crowd. Any second now, the Slytherin table would cheer again, and she would run happily into the welcoming arms of her brothers. Any second...
"Gryffindor!" Silence. You could hear a pin drop. The Griffindors glared at her as she slowly walked over. She turned back to face Draco and Aphid. Aphid was sad and tears threatened to spill down his melancholy face. Draco was furious. He refused to look at her and shielded Aphid from her too. Avril put her head down on the table and didn't eat a single thing during the meal.
The Gryffindors and Slytherins avoided her like the plague. Most of the Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs gave her pitying looks.
That night, Avril didn't sleep. Instead, she cried.
A/N ~ Okay, so this was sitting in my drafts, finished. I hadn't edited it for months, and I finally came back to it now. It's going to go on hold, cause I don't have any inspiration at all. An occasional chapter might be published, but that's it. The first chapters will be Avril's past, so they'll be short. They'll get longer onec it starts the actual story, promise. If you have any ideas, please comment, I will be sure to look at them. As always I will try to add in any and all OCs suggested. Please comment and vote, thanks!
Love y'all,
