The Letter
I handed the letter to Jesse so I could lock the door, I could hear her opening the letter, I quickly walked over to the two so we could see what it said.
The Letter read as followed. My dear Isabel
If you are reading this then I have sadly passed, My darling daughter, I love you so much and I am so sorry that I cannot be there with you right now, or for the many years of your life that I have missed I have no excuse for my absence in your life except for the fact your brother, Carlos, needed me, Carlos is Your older Hermano, he was born six years before you in El Salvador where I was born and he was raised, I couldn't leave my son behind in El Salvador with his father, he was too young to understood and he didn't want to move with you and your father so we stayed in El Salvador, I left when he moved out at eighteen, I wanted to be with you but I knew you wouldn't understand who I was since I wasn't in your life for twelve years.I was shocked, “I have a brother? A half brother?” Jesse patted my back, “There's more.” she said, taking out another sheet.
Now I need you to listen to me Isabel, what I am about to tell you won't be easy to understand and I know you were never taught Spanish but what I am about to say will explain why you were born the way you were.
But before I tell you, there is a box underneath my bed, a black and white box, there is a necklace in there, my mother gave it to me hoping I would be the reincarnation, she said she always had a feeling, but now I know that feeling was from you, you are the reincarnation of El Cadejo Blanco.
Mi hija, I know this must be hard for you to understand, that's why I bought tickets to El Salvador so my sister, your Tia, could help you, I bought three tickets because I knew you wouldn't want to go alone and your two friends would love an adventure.
Love your mother.I could feel the tears in my eyes starting to form, I blinked to get rid of them, “So we need to translate the Spanish and find the box.” Jesse said, Daniel pulled out his phone, “I have a translation app on my phone.” He said searching for the app, I walked to my mother's room, I had never been in there since she always wanted her own space, I opened the door and walked in, She had drawings of El Salvador and mythical creatures, I walked to her bed and kneeled down to grab the box, I pulled it out and opened the box, in the box was more paper with scribbles, and writings in Spanish, and in the middle was a necklace, in shape of a heart, I grabbed the necklace and the box separately and bring it to the living room.
“So it says El Cadejo is a legend in El Salvador, it is said that El Cadejo are two dogs, one white with blue eyes the other black with red eyes, it is said that El Cadejo Blanco protects our people from El Cadejo negro, you and your brother are the reincarnations of El Cadejo, that's why you were born with white hair and blue eyes, and why your brother was born with black hair and red eyes.” Daniel read out, “So that explains your hair and eyes.” Daniel said, “I thought you were albino.” Jesse said confused, “Liz- or Isabel isn't Albino, david in sixth form is,” Daniel said with an ‘obviously’ tone I rolled my eyes at the two.
“I found the necklace she was talking about.” I said holding it up, “Well put it on maybe it will show you your destiny or something.” Jesse said.
I took a deep breath and put it on, “I don't think anything is gonna hap-”Bright lights formed from the necklace I covered my eyes till it stopped and then opened my eyes.
