SIDE STORY!

What really happened to Eliza's mom?

My dad went home from a meeting. Alec and I was at the living room and my mom, Lynne, is sitting on the rocking chair in the kitchen. My dad went where mom is, and through a window I saw my parents started talking about something serious.

Later on I heard them arguing, then my mom shouts, "What? What is it you're hiding? Why can't you tell it? "

"Stop!" Gerard replied.

"What is it!?"

"I said stop Lynne! Stop! Stop!" he says really loud.

Alec cries at my side and said, "Sis, what is happening?"

"Shh, mom and dad are only having a misunderstanding, stop crying now okay?" I said and Alec nods as I embrace him.

Then something unexpected and insane happened. All of us are shocked, not moving and eyes wide open. A creature appeared in front of Lynne, my father... just turned into a... wolf. And with just a blink of an eye, he slashed our mother's face with his sharp claws. Lynne, dumbfounded with her bloody face, felt numb as if nothing happened.

Alec cried really loud and I tried to make him stop, Gerard might turn his attention to this little boy. But instead, he ran and crashed the door in wolf form.

We were eating our breakfast when someone knocks at our door. Alec volunteered to open the door for us but mom said that I'm the one responsible in opening it.

I opened the door and I saw Gerard outside, looking very tired and very depressed. My anger rushed its way up.

"What - are - you - doing - HERE?!" I said slowly, but feeling intense inside. "Go away!"

"Please Eliza, let me speak to your mother."

"After what you did, you've got guts to talk to her? How dare you!"

"Eliza, who's tha-" mom said, shocked at the sight of Gerard. "Go finish your food Eliza."

"But mom..."

"Now!"

I don't want to add mom's stress so I just followed her instruction.

"Who's that sis?" Alec asks.

"Not an important person."

We fell silent for awhile and mom went back to her seat looking glum.

It's already 10 o'clock so I went to our room and saw Alec in a deep sleep. Mom peeked through the small gap at our door and gestured 'come' to me.

Mom's room is very clean, with its white walls, it looks big. I sat down at the corner of her bed facing her. She held my hand and started to shed tears.

"Eliza, I have something to tell you... Your father told me awhile ago that he will be leaving us. He said he needs to stay focused on his work -" mom sobs. "- he came here to get his clothes."

"Oh his dang work yeah."

"Shut up and listen to me!"

"sorry..." sheesh, I'm so insensitive.

"Actually he apologized awhile ago- "

"And you accepted it?"

"Well, yes."

"But mom-"

"I love your dad Eliza, I just.. I just want him to be always with us. This," she points at her face. "this scar is nothing! I really love your dad-"

"Mom! Please, wake up! Can't you see dad doesn't love us anymore, that's why he left us! His work is more importat to him than us and..." oops I need to chill out.I found myself shouting. "...and I think it's better for him to leave, so he will not harm any of us. Besides we can't handle a werewolf in this house."

"Watch what you're saying Eliza! Well, better go back to your room now. I just want you to know what had happend."

I walked out of mom's room and as I closed her door, I darted to my room sobbing, remembering Alec was there, sleeping, I sat next to him and told myself...be brave, Alec and mom is there for you. I pushed my feelings aside and fell asleep.
