It was difficult convincing her mother and father to let her go, and easy to assemble her friends to take the trip with her. Most things were easy for Kate. She breezed through the elite private school she was sent to without any effort. Ivy League schools took interest in her despite her lack of academic appliance. And yeah, she won't ever have to work a day in her life.

Her flight to Nice was in less than four hours. She packed two suitcases full of expensive designer clothing. Her two friends sprawled across her plush bed, talking of nightclubs and restaurants they planned to frequent. Kate changed into a navy sweatshirt and off-white joggers. A pair of beat-up Bape Stars and scrunched-up socks were on her feet, the laces untied.

"Almost ready, guys?" Kate popped her head around the closet door, simultaneously fastening a Van Cleef bracelet around her wrist.
"Yes! god I'm so excited for this," Romee gushed, bounding up from the bed.
"Good, because the driver is here," Kate smiled, dragging her two suitcases behind her.

Elisa squealed, scrambling to shove all of her things back into the tote bag she brought. Romee and Elisa's bags were already downstairs, waiting to be packed into the boot of the car waiting for them outside.

The trio quickly made their way into the elevator and down onto the streets of New York. Kate greeted the limousine driver, before directing the doorman Natan to a separate car for their luggage. She never bothered to say goodbye to her parents. She thought they wouldn't care anyway. A bottle of champagne was opened at 4:17 am and away they went. Goodbye New York.

After passing out on a first-class aeroplane seat, they arrived in Nice and were driven to Monte-Carlo, Monaco in a sleek black Mercedes. The penthouse they were renting together was furnished beautifully, Kate knew her mother would have loved the place. Instead of enjoying the last of the Monegasque sunshine trickling into the apartment through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the trio found themselves in a supermarket, buying what they assumed were essentials.
"Do we not need oven trays or something?" Elisa stopped suddenly, looking at the shopping cart.
"Oh, shit, yeah! We probably need utensils as well?" Kate sighed, placing the spinach and kale she was holding into the cart. The trio made their way through the rest of the store, somewhat successful in their efforts at grocery shopping.

"I. Am. Exhausted," Kate sighed, flopping herself onto the white sofa in the lounge.
"You better rest up, K. I found someone to take us on his yacht tomorrow. Someone called Tate Collins?" Elisa put down her phone, smiling at Kates shocked expression.
"Shut up! That's my ex, Elisa!" Kate squealed.
"Oh, shit. Want me to cancel?" Elisa's eyes widened.
"No, no, it's okay. It was because I moved back to New York anyway, it wasn't bad. It'll be nice to see him again," Kate mused.
"Yeah, as if seeing any one of your exes has ever been a pleasant experience," Romee snorted, sending Elisa and Kate into giggles.
"You might me right there. But, he's got a group of friends that are super high-profile. Racing drivers, businessmen. The yacht is really nice too, not as big as my dad's but still nice," Elisa said.
"I'm so glad I packed all of my bikinis," Romee excited. "Should we sort out what we're going to wear?"
"We'll do it tomorrow, Ro. I just wants to go to bed right now," Kate stood up, heading for the master bedroom which was assigned as her own.
"Night, Kate!"
"Goodnight!"
