"so, why'd your family move to korea?" chaeyoung asked, in the midst of a conversation that had started as just simple small talk, but became pretty detailed as time passed. in waiting for the elevator to start up again, the two had learned quite a bit about eachother— although it was mostly chaeyoung doing the talking.

"they didn't. i came here by myself, for work." sharon replied. it had become apparent to chaeyoung that sharon was very reserved. she wouldn't say much when it came to her personal life, or anything about her, really. chaeyoung didn't have a problem with that— after all, they just met not even 15 minutes ago.

sharon wasn't completely closed off, though. she seemed to take interest in hearing about chaeyoung's little stories she told to pass the time. to chaeyoung, it just seemed that sharon wasn't a very talkative person, but a good listener. a perfect match for her.

the silence that followed chaeyoung's "oh" in response to what sharon said was, in her mind, an invitation for her to keep rambling about random things that came to her mind. anything to pass the time.

it seemed to work pretty well, because by the time the elevator had been fixed, the two of them had sort of forgotten what they were even waiting for. sharon got to know chaeyoung pretty well in that 25 minutes— but the other way around, not so much yet.

"it was nice meeting you, chaeyoung." sharon said with a slight bow. "yeah! i'll see you around, maybe?" chaeyoung smiled before the two of them walked in their separate directions. at the time, it didn't even cross chaeyoung's mind that sharon was supposedly interviewing for the same position... so why'd she go the other way? by the time she realized, she thought to remind her new friend that the waiting room was this way, but she was already long gone. oh well! less competition then.

as chaeyoung's turn approached, she noticed her heart rate increasing rapidly, and her palms began to sweat. it'll be fine... it'll be fine... she took a deep breath before approaching the door as a taller man exited from his interview.

chaeyoung made note of the fact that she was one of the only women in the waiting room, along with an old lady and an underdressed woman on her phone— who chaeyoung was sure had accidentally went into the wrong room and didn't notice. she would have taken this as a bad thing, but remembering that the ceo of the company was also a woman eased her nerves.

these interviews were very stressful to those who had the opportunity to attend, as they were held by the ceo herself. someone who most people never got the opportunity to see, let alone speak to.

becoming the assistant to the ceo of one of the biggest companies in south korea at the time would not be easy, but chaeyoung had always dreamed of working at myoui enterprises.
