You noticed that Paul had recently been seeing less of you and more of a girl he had met recently, Linda Eastman. You had tried to hide your jealousy, but one night, after drinking a bit too much, it all came out.

"We never see each other anymore, Paul. You never speak to me. You never call by my house like you used to. It's like we're strangers, not boyfriend and girlfriend."

"(Y/N), I can explain."

"I don't need you to explain! And who's this Linda that you're seeing all the time? You see her more than you see me!"

Paul took your hand and pressed a kiss against the back of it. "Linda's an old friend. I've not spoken to her for a while, but I rekindled the friendship because I needed her help with something that needed a more... feminine touch."

"You do realise that I am also a woman, Paul?" You scowled. "What are you... in love with her?"

"No, actually, we're just good friends," Paul replied with a grin. He noticed you did not smile back and changed his approach.

He smiled softly and with a sigh, tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. "Well, I didn't want to say, but she's been helping me pick out an engagement ring. John asked to help, but he was absolutely useless. That's when Ringo suggested that I get Linda to help."

You had physically eased now and Paul pulled you into a hug. He placed a kiss on your neck. "I know it's not an excuse for me being distant. I guess I just want the proposal to be such a surprise that I almost ruined the relationship we already have." He looked into your eyes softly. "Do you forgive me?"

You smiled back at him. "We're going to be husband and wife. Of course I forgive you."
