Part 11

**

You cocoon yourself with the thick blanket, rock yourself as you're seated on the corner of the couch, and count to 10.

It's one of those cases again that hits close to home — Do-yun, one of the kids you counsel, informed you that his parents disagreed with undergoing family therapy, said they didn't believe in it. You heard the defeat in his voice, but he played it off and said he'll be okay; he just wanted to call you before he called his best friend.

That at least made you smile. You always emphasized to the kids the value of having a support system; you're glad he's able to find his, the way you did when you were 12.

Well, you found the core of your support system at age 12, although you're not so sure about that now. You haven't seen Jungkook since that night you last patched him up and left his studio before daybreak.

Communication has halted, too. It's safe to say you're avoiding him, and with his actions that night that left you feeling anxious about your feelings for him, you think it's the right decision, at least for now. You convinced yourself he'd acted out of reflex, that he didn't really mean whatever he was attempting to do.

Jin wasn't convinced though, as you narrated to him the events of that night. You'd been shaken up and he'd been understanding. But perhaps it was what he needed, as the fear he felt at the thought of losing you to another was what made him realize what he really wanted, and that was to be with you.

You never confirmed nor denied to him what you felt for your best friend, but Jin is a perceptive guy, you suppose he'd picked it up, that's why he asked for a chance - "be with me and let's see where it goes," he'd said, and you agreed.

You're on the third round of your count to 10 when you get the call. At the words "Jungkook" and "hospital," your mind goes blank; you don't hear anything else after.
