However, I'd go with the theory that when one's spirit is carrying a weight, or a deed that needs done, then they must fulfil that deed or be exorcised to move on to either Hell or Heaven. Now, the negative weights, like murder for example, will bring you straight to Hell where you have to serve with that weight for eternity, no chances to work them off in the land of the living."
