Chapter : 03

Vedika stood in her room, adorned in a beautiful lehenga, her wedding attire. Today was meant to be the most joyous day of her life, a day when love and happiness should fill the air. But her heart was heavy with sorrow, for this marriage was not a result of her own choice. It was a forceful union, a transaction fueled by her parents' desperation.

The weight of the situation hung heavily on Vedika's face, as she gazed into the mirror, her eyes devoid of any joy or excitement. She had no control over her own destiny, no say in the matters of her own heart. Her dreams of love and freedom were shattered, replaced by a dark cloud of fear and uncertainty.

The next day, When he take her forcefully. Vedika's parents came to visit her, their faces etched with regret and sorrow. They had taken on a debt from this man, this stranger she was forced to marry. They had promised him that they would pay off the debt, but it seemed their efforts had been in vain. The man, hardened by his own circumstances, refused their offer, claiming it was too late.

Vedika's heart sank further as she heard the conversation unfold. The realization of her parents' sacrifices, their desperation to protect her, only added to her burden of guilt. She knew they were willing to go to any lengths to secure her future, even if it meant sacrificing her happiness.

Tears streamed down Vedika's face uncontrollably as she braced herself for the arrival of her mother. The knock on the door made her heart race, and her mother entered, her eyes swollen from her own tears. Without a word, she wrapped her arms around Vedika, holding her tightly as if trying to absorb her pain.

"Maa," Vedika whispered through her sobs, her voice choked with sorrow. Her mother held her even tighter, her own tears mingling with her daughter's.

"I don't want to marry him, Maa," Vedika confessed, her voice trembling. "He is dangerous."

Her mother's heart shattered as she felt the weight of her daughter's anguish. She stroked Vedika's back gently, her touch conveying both love and helplessness. "I know, beta," she whispered, her voice filled with maternal warmth. "But we can't do anything. I am sorry, Vedu. Because of us, you have to suffer like this."

Vedika looked up at her mother, her tear-streaked face filled with a mixture of pain and understanding. Her mother wiped away her tears with tender care, her touch offering solace in the midst of turmoil.

"We're so sorry," her mother said, her voice trembling with regret.

"No, Maa," Vedika replied, her voice filled with a mix of resignation and acceptance. "It's not your fault. It's not anyone's fault. I think it's my fate." Her voice wavered as her emotions threatened to overwhelm her once again. "But..." she paused, taking a shaky breath. "But I still can't help but feel this longing, this ache for the life I wanted."

Vedika's words hung heavy in the air, carrying the weight of shattered dreams and stolen freedom. Her mother held her tighter, her silent embrace speaking volumes of the love and pain they shared.

In that moment, as the tears continued to flow and the burdens became unbearable, Vedika found solace in the arms of her mother. It was a bittersweet comfort, a reminder that even in the darkest of times, love could provide a glimmer of hope. And as they clung to each other, they vowed silently to navigate the storm together, finding strength in their unbreakable bond.

Vedika's heart pounded in her chest as she took her mother's arm, preparing to enter the vibrant "mandap" adorned with beautiful flowers and shimmering lights. Her eyes darted nervously around the room, taking in the elaborate decorations and the expectant faces of their families and friends. It was supposed to be a joyous occasion, a celebration of love and union, but as she approached the mandap, a sense of foreboding settled within her.
