AN: HAPPY THURSDAY!! I'm back and here to drop this little fic. I love Warrior Nun and this story has been rattling in my head. I've hidden a few line switches in this story, see if you can find them! Line switches are favorite lines, but said by a different character.
Happy Pride besties!!
The first vacation after defeating Adriel.
This would be the first trip, with everyone together, since fighting and winning against a devil.
Ava and Beatrice run back to the Alps, returning to where so many things began. Like their longing looks across the kitchen or lingering touches at the bar. But they lost so much along the way: Mary, and Michael, and the smile on Jillian's face.
But the gang is coming back together. Yes, Mother Superion, Yasmine, Camila, and Lilith are road tripping from Cat's Cradle to pick up Ava and Beatrice.
So when Ava wakes up in the apartment, the sunlight shining through and finding her face, she smiles. This trip was always a dream, this life always just fingertips away. But when Ava feels the love of her life breathing next to her, and even reaches out to place a featherlight touch on her hand, she knows it's real. They made it. Ava and Beatrice are living and loving together.
Ava shifts her weight, Beatrice's eyes blink open, still startling at sudden movements. The girl relaxes from the familiar three squeezes. It's Ava's reminder: we're okay.
The morning goes by quickly. Just like how Ava wants. She's been counting down the weeks, the days, and now the hours until this trip. She consumes her morning cereal or what Beatrice calls it, an unhealthy dose of milk and sugar.
But according to Ava, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a breakfast delicacy.
The adventure starts at noon. Ava bounces on her toes. Bea continues packing. And well, Ava has not been the most helpful.
Or any help at all.
No, she's keeping lookout. She paces in front of the window, flinching at every car, but deflating when she sees only one or two passengers. Ava doesn't actually know what kind of car Mother Superion drives, she's only known the pastry truck.
"...Ava?"
Ava scrunches her face, quickly gathering that her ears should have been listening, and starts rambling off an excuse. "Okay, sorry Bea, but there may or not have been cars that looked like it might be coming this way. And then these two birds landed on the phone line which I could tell they were mates so I didn't hear-"
Beatrice cups her hands on Ava's cheeks, "Easy, it's alright. I'm sure there's a whole story with the birds. And you can tell me, but I need to know if you get carsick."
Ava blinks at her. She's never thought of this. She doesn't remember much before the crash. Certainly not if she had motion sickness. Not like after the crash she had many options for a car ride. Ava thinks about it. She's only been in the car a handful of times with the OCS. And, well, she's always felt a little nauseous on the trips to various fights and missions. But that was probably the nerves right? Right?
"Because I was planning on bringing a few novels to choose from, but Mother Superion would not appreciate it if... you know..." Beatrice trails off, hoping Ava can fill in the blanks.
"Hurling out the window?" Ava recovers, nodding her head hard, "Oh-yeah, um, no problemo."
Beatrice cocks her head at her, "You have no idea, do you?" Her voice has gone quieter, softer.
Ava scuffs her shoe on the ground, looking away, "No, I'm not really sure. But if you want to read, I think I could maybe look over your shoulder? At least try it out for a little."
