Aj sat in the back seat of the car looking at the empty barrel of his revolver.

He sighed.

Duck adjusted the review mirror to have a better look at him in the back. Clem sat next to Duck, eyes barely open. She had barely gotten any sleep the previous night as Aj had come down with a cough and had her worried sick throughout the night.

Thankfully the cough went away when the morning hit and she settled.

"Clem, baby it's okay. You can rest. He's fine." Duck reached out to her taking his eyes off the road for a few seconds to gently place her curly hair behind her ear.

"Yeah, I'm okay, see? No cough!" Aj spoke from the back hoping him saying it will help Clem be at ease. He scootched himself toward the front of the car laying his head on her shoulder.

"I don't even feel the itch anymore. Promise." He addressed toward Duck.

"I know buddy. She's just worried that's all."

Clementine cupped his cheek in her hand, still a bit worried. He didn't feel warm, and he looked alot better than yesterday for sure. She kissed his forehead.

Aj sat back, "All better Momma." He signed.

Clem smiled. "I believe you. I'll sleep."

"Good!"

Clem then got comfy in the passenger seat, closing her eyes allowing sleep to take her.

"Papa Duck!" Aj called.

Duck looked into the review mirror.

"What is it?"

"Where are we going to now?"

Duck didn't know how to answer that question. They had been on the road for some days. After the last place they stop at turned out to be overrun with dead.

"Somewhere safe." He answered.

"Will we find it soon?"

Duck sighed. "We'll see buddy. Sit back, put on your seatbelt okay?"

Aj nodded strapping his belt over his body before settling down in the back seat. Soon Clem's snores began to echo around the car, making the two boys chuckle.

3 Days Later:

The sun was burning bright in the sky. It was hot out, Duck could feel the beads of sweat rolling down his face. It annoyed him to no end when the weather got like this. He glanced over to his right to see Clementine staring ahead at the street, she hadn't said anything in a while.

And Aj, laid in the back seat of the car. His feet were propped up against the window, as he spun the cylinder of his revolver. The series of clicks were driving him up the wall, but the boy was quite and content so for the time being he wasn't going to say anything.

He hoped he stopped soon though. It was working his nerves.

Aj was now a five year old boy. He had grown well, and learned well since they've had him. His afro got bigger with age, and Duck giggled at the thought of possibly shaving it down soon. Even his own hair had grown past his shoulders and he made the tough decision to cut it back down to length. He refused for it to be another shorter than shoulder length however.
