"Hurry up Devon, we need to leave now or we will be late. I want to meet up with Bonnie before class." I scream at him from the door of the garage.

"I'm coming, don't get your panties in a knot." he responds snidely.

Already irritated by my morning so far, I slip on my black converse and head out the door to the backyard.

I crack open the door to the shed; "Bye mom, love you, see you when we get home!" I tell her, while blowing her a goodbye kiss.

"Bye sweetheart. Please keep your brother in check today and make sure you have an amazing first day. Love you too!" She says as a returned kiss is blown at me as I shut the door.

I see Devon getting into the passenger side of the car, finally, just as I was back into the garage.

"Took ya long enough" I said with an irritated look on my face.

"Took ya long enough" he mocked at me, while rolling his eyes. I open the garage door, reverse the car, and off to school we go.

It usually takes about 10 minutes to get to school, so I blare my music, roll my windows down, and take in the fresh air. I look over to see if Devon is awake, but sure enough, he is knocked out cold for the whole 10 minutes.

As I look at Devon, I can't help to think back to what I heard last night. Was it really Bonnie? Would she really hurt me and betray me like this? Maybe I should confront her after 8th period today.

We pull into the school parking lot, and I find my spot that I have been parking in for the last 2 to 3 years has been taken. Annoyed, I end up parking 2 spots down from it, which is no big deal, but once I seen who took it, I felt my cheeks go red and hot.

"Holy shit" I say under my breath.

Devon woke up and looked as if he woke up in a different dimension. He looks to his left, peeks above my shoulder and his mouth drops.

"Is that who I think it is? I heard the news but I didn't believe it was real." Devon said.

"Ivan." I finally make out.

After what seemed like minutes, I finally snap out of it, get out of my car, grab my bag, and walk over to him. How is he going to leave as a nobody, but come back as a somebody, but also take my parking spot in the process? I will not let this go.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" I say sternly.

"Who, me?" Ivan asks, as he looks around and sees nobody else. "Because I know damn well you aren't talking to me."

My cheeks go red. Shit. I can feel the heat rise in my face. "Yeah, I'm talking to you, you asshole. I have been parking here since Sophomore year, and now you decide to come back out of nowhere, and just steal it from me?"

He leans on his car, elbow sitting on the roof; "Well, I don't see your name on it, so I figured it was fair game, princess." As he looks down at me, smirking.

Oh, so he wanted to play games, well today is not the right day to do so. "Move your shitty car tomorrow, or I'll make you pay" I say, standing on my tippy toes, trying to get in his face to intimidate him.

He looks down at me, smiles, and leans down to my ear and whispers; "I might just take you up on that offer."

I freeze. What the hell is happening to me, and why does it feel like my entire body is tingling?

"Yo, Ivan, are you ready to head to the school?" A loud voice booms in my ear drums, making me come back to reality.

All I see is tall blond Scott prancing over to Ivan, smiling ear to ear. He wraps his arm around Ivan's shoulders and pulls him in for a side hug.

"Oh, Tara, I didn't even see you there!" Scott says. "I see you noticed Ivan is back."

"Yeah, I noticed. I also noticed him parked in my spot as we pulled in." I exclaimed.

Both boys giggle. Ivan looks at Scott and says "Can you believe I parked in a spot that has no name on it?" "How criminal of you!" They both start cackling and elbowing each other.

My face goes red, except this time, with anger. "You know what, fuck you. Keep the stupid parking spot. Have a great day." I tell them with attitude and walk away.

I walk to the gate to start heading to the lockers when I felt a pair of eyes on me. I look back, and Ivan is staring at me so hard, he's basically burning holes into my face. My face goes red again, and I turn around and walk away, trying not to give him satisfaction.

The first half of school went by fast, almost like a blur. Most of the day I thought about how proud my dad would be with Devon and I making it to our senior year, the other half I couldn't stop thinking about the feeling I got with Ivan. I hear the splitting sound of the lunch bell ringing, and I've never been so happy to hear such a loud sound before.

I get up and start heading to my locker, when I accidentally run into someone familiar.

"Watch where you're going to fucking loser!" I hear Lindsey shout.

Lindsey and I used to be best friends up until last year. During the summer going into our Junior year, her and her family went on a vacation around Europe, which caused our friendship to drift apart. Her and I have known each other and spend every day together since we were in diapers, but since she got back, she has wanted nothing to do with me.

"Sorry, didn't see you standing there, which is ironic because you're hard to miss." I smirked.

I don't remember much about what happened after that, just that I woke up 15 minutes later in the nurses office with an ice pack on my eye.

"Oh good, you're awake. How are you feeling?" asked the school nurse.

"Better, thank you. May I head to lunch now?" I ask, still trying to get my thoughts together.

"Of course dear. Just be careful next time!" She replied.

I guess Lindsey told the staff that I fell and hit my head on the door, which then made me knock out cold. I shake off the altercation and head to lunch.

Tacos for the first day back to school, not a bad choice. I grab my lunch and walk around finding Bonnie and Devon.

"You're alive!" Bonnie says, perking up.

"I made it out alive. Barely." I say sheepishly

As I sit down to eat, I scan the cafeteria to see if I could find Ivan. I turn my head to the left, nothing. I turn my head to the right, nothing. I turn around, and there he was, face to face with me. For a moment, I forgot how to breathe.

"You lookin' for me, beautiful?" Ivan says, bent down to come face to face with me.

I clear my throat, look him dead in the eye, and say; "I would rather look through a year old trash can before I look for you." And turn back around to start eating. Ivan takes a seat next to Devon, who seem to have become best friends with each other over the first half of the school day.

I ignore it and turn to face Bonnie. "Hey, can we talk after school?" I ask her. "Yeah, of course. Give me a ride home and we can talk." She responds.

I look at Devon. "Well, since you two are the best of friends, why don't you ride home with Ivan today."

"I can do that, just make sure to give me 5 stars afterwards." Ivan says, as him and Devon laugh at the lame joke.

I finish my lunch and try to move on with the rest of the school day, until I had to talk to Bonnie about a topic I never expected to have with my best friend. The rest of the school day felt like an eternity.
