The Silent Symphony

Another DAY

The alarm buzzes, signaling the start of a new day. With a stretch and a yawn, I rise from my cozy bed, ready to embark on another day of university. But before I start with my daily chores, I need to check for any updates about my fav K-pop groups and artists! Stray kids are having a comeback, and I am so excited for them! I just can't wait to meet them, but I have no freaking idea when it is going to happen. Honestly, I might end up giving upon the idea of meeting them and attending any K-pop concert for that matter.

Sighing I head to the bathroom, splashing my face with refreshing water to awaken my senses. As I brush my teeth, I gaze at my reflection, mentally preparing myself for the day ahead. I am in the last year of my university, and I want to pursue master's in chemical and biomolecular engineering in any other country other than US and India. You may be wondering why I don't want to go to these absolutely beautiful countries! Well, the reason are my parents. I really don't want to live under the same roof as them because they still treat me like a baby even though I am turning 22 this year. 

My dad Dr. Kunal Roy, a cardiologist working in Hendrick Medical Centre, Brownwood is an Indian and my mom Amanda Willow, a social worker is an American. They fell in love and got married and they are living their happily ever after but when am I going to find my Bangchan!! He is the synonym for my dream boy! I just love him so much! I have applied to almost all the top universities in Australia and South Korea. Of course, I would never miss out on the opportunity of going to Korea! I am really stressed because none of the universities have replied back. I have to find some alternative or else dad will definitely send me to India to live with my granny. My worst NIGHTMARE!

Dressed in a comfortable yet stylish outfit, I gather my belongings and head to the kitchen. A quick breakfast fuels my body and mind, providing the energy I need to tackle the day's challenges. I greet dad and mom who were having their breakfast. "So, any update about your masters?" dad questioned while munching on the toast. "Not yet Dad. Don't worry, you will be the first one to know if I get into any university!". "I have been telling you to go to India and stay with your granny for a few years. She misses you a lot Sarah. India is also known for its best education system. You can pursue your masters there in one of the top universities!" "Or you can just stay with us here in Texas and do whatever you wish for!", my mom revolted back without giving a break. 

"Dad and Mom, we have had this conversation before, and I don't want to repeat myself again. I really want to explore different things on my own without your support. I want to experience building a new life and finding a place to call home in an unfamiliar land. Please stop trying to persuade me. I have made up my mind and I will stick to it!", With that I barged out of my living room and grabbing my backpack I step out of my house.

I am so annoyed and furious. My parents have always been like this. They always want me to be under their protection. Ugh I am really tired of this conversation. I hope I get a reply soon. To calm myself down I plugged in my air pods and started listening to my favorite song 'waiting for us'. It always manages to calm me down and I feel at peace whenever I listen to this song.

Hopping on the bus, I make my way to the university campus. Along the way, I met my friends Nicole and Steve. They are my batchmates and my buddies. We met on the first day of our Uni and we managed to stick together till the last year. "Why are you sulking on such a beautiful morning?", Nicole questioned while sitting next to me and Steve was waiting for me to answer after sitting Infront of me. "Same old Parent drama. Bruh they simply don't understand and it's so annoying. The other families in Texas are super chill with their kids moving out and here my parents are still trying to convince me to stay with them. On the other hand, I still didn't get a reply from any university. I'm super worried". "Everyone is dealing with their own shit Sarah. You are not alone, and you will be receiving an acceptance email soon. Cheer UP!", Steve replied. "Don't lose your hope babe. Let the sunshine and the beauty of this day brighten your mood." Nicole comforted me by giving a warm hug. I just love these two so much. They make my Uni days beautiful!

Arriving on campus, we navigate through the bustling hallways and find our way to the first lecture of the day. We have Biomechanics. It's one of my favorite lectures. As the day draws to a close, I wrap up with my last class. Nicole and Steve wanted me to hang out with them and the other classmates, but I was not up for socializing, so I just headed back home. On my way back home, I took a moment to appreciate the beauty of the sunset and out of the blue, Chan crossed my mind. I felt a sudden urge to just see him smile from a distance. I have been a Stay for a really long time now and I never really got a chance to see them, and it really hurts. "I think it's nice that we share the same sky. Too cliche right?" with that in mind I returned home.

Back in my living space, I powered on my laptop to check my mail. With no hope I was just checking my mail, and something caught my eye. With anticipation and curiosity, I opened the email and started reading it.
