Sumyia's POV
I walked to school. Alone. For 20 minutes. Why? Because I woke up late and the school is very far. Woe is me, woe is me! Then I rounded the corner at school to go to the back and saw a giant crowd of students. I met up with my friends and then went to check whose class I was in. I trailed my finger down sheets of paper till I found my name.
"Mr.Maravelias......Rm. 105...." I say to myself.
I walked to the teacher since he was holding up a sign with his name on it. Then I stood. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Until finally, we went inside.
Ilma's POV
I walked to school. For 5 minutes. Alone. Why? Because I live close to the school. Then I rounded the corner to the back of the school. The first thing I noticed was the crowd of chattering students and the second thing was Vivi with her dad. I smile and wave at her, she waves back.
I walked to her but jumped back when I heard her scream.
"ILMA!!!!"
"Er..Hi Vivi." I say awkwardly.
[Insert awkward silence here]
Then her dad starts to ask questions about me and school. I try to answer all his questions politely but all my answers were awkward. Then he tells me to stand beside Vivi so that he could take a picture. To be honest, the first day of school was very very awkward.
Vivi's POV
I walked to school. For half an hour. Not alone. But with my dad. We were talking about self-defense. It was very energetic.
"What would you do if a guy with a chainsaw started chasing you and he was wearing clown shoes and he has bee's wings and a banana in the other hand while wearing girl makeup and earrings, very big hoop earrings, and he was babbling about cats who look like dogs and mice who look like cats while he was eating a burrito?" My dad asks.
"Huh? A guy with a who?" I say confused.
My dad is about to repeat the question when I see Ilma waving at me.
"ILMA!!!!" I yell at her.
She jumps a few feet but walks up to me.
"Er...hi Vivi." She says weirdly.
[insert awkward silence here]
My dad starts asking questions to Ilma about school and her in general before taking a bazillion pictures.
"Anyways, it's time to go now. Bye dad!"
I started walking towards the door but when I tried to open it, it was locked.
"Ilma! They locked us out!"
"We'll go around the front," Ilma replied.
We went around the front and burst into our classroom, "Sorry, they locked us out."
"About time you got here," Mr. Maravelias shouted in his usually way.
"Why don't we sit up front," I whispered. Ilma followed me to the far left corner, the furthest corner from the door.
"Um... this one's leaky."
I blinked at her in confusion. "What?"
"This chair is leaking." She pointed to the ever growing puddle of rusty brown looking sludge on the floor.
I pulled out my chair and noticed that it too was leaking. "Nope. New plan, we're moving to the back."
So we marched ourselves down to the back. All the way to the window seats which were directly two tables in front of our previous ones, and conveniently, right in front of Sumyia. Of course at the time we had yet to even acquaint ourselves.
"Hello," Ilma and I said simultaneously.
Sitting ourselves down was the easy part. Then came the common routine of getting to know each other that every teacher does at the beginning of a year. It was extremely awkward the first few days, but eventually we became close friends.
One day, sometime in November, Mr. Maravelias suggested that the class did a play for a history project instead of doing a chapter test. Of course we all agreed, even me. So there we were... making props for a project when Sumyia had the brilliant idea to make a doll house.
And so the work commenced.
