'Mother..'
Your mother rarely ever called you during her business trips, so when she called you were honestly very surprised. You don't know if you should feel excited or scared because everytime your mother calls it always has something to do with your academics.
You quickly focused your gaze back towards the vibrating phone in your grasp, and answered the call. The second you answered, you immediately hear your mother's voice calling your name.
"Y/n l/n!" you hear your mother's loud and angry voice shout, the noise coming out from the speaker of your phone, slightly vibrating the device.
"Yes, mother?" you answer nervously, your voice shaking in the slightest way possible.
"what is this?! Second place in the biology competition?! You know our family has been winning 1st place in any type of competition for two whole generations!" she exclaimed angrily.
"I apologize mother, I'll make sure to do better next month."
"You better! If you fail again I'll send you to a boarding school where I went to when I was in high school."
"Yes moth-" your mother hung up before you could finish your reply.

It is around one AM in the morning, you are currently studying for your exams in two weeks and also for the competition next month. The study lamp your friend gifted you lighting up your textbook that is laying on your desk, your eyes are getting even more tired every second. Even so, you continue reading your textbook with your half-lided eyes.
"argh.." you groaned in distress as you can't find out the answer to a mathematics equation. After a few minutes, you decided to call it a day and get some rest as you weakly jump onto your bed, hugging your extra pillow, slowly drifting asleep.
