The High Warlock and his apprentice reached the families and Khun Kittisak smiled warmly. "Friends, it's lovely to see you again. I trust both your families and businesses have been very prosperous." He said merrily. Dissaya, Pakorn and Ming all smiled politely in agreement and began making respectful small talk with the man. The warlock's smile never faded; Pat wondered if he was always like this.
Turning to face Pat and Pran the mediator spoke again. "Ahhh, I forgot this was the year the heirs would join! It's good to see you here boys." Both him and Pran placed their hands in a respectful wai and bowed their heads. Pat looked over to his father to find his looking back at his angrily before motioning his head to the Warlock. Pat turned back to the old man before holding his hand out to him and smiling brightly before bowing his head again.
"Khun Kittisak it's a pleasure to be in your presence again." The man smiled back in response before lifting his own arm to shake Pat's outstretched hand. "Oh, hello Pat you've grown since I last saw you, back then you were at least a foot shorter than me and now you're towering above me." He bellowed with a laugh, Pat laughed along in agreement as he stood up straighter, he could easily see over the man's head when they stood this close to each other. The man was characteristically short as most elder Warlocks are, he read somewhere years ago that it was due to their magic pushing down on them or something like that Pat couldn't really remember.
Khun Kittisak smiled warmly once more before turning to Pat's rival. "Ahh yes, now onto the young Siridechawat. I don't believe we have had the chance to meet in person before Parakul, but I have heard many positive things." Pran smiled sincerely in response. "It is an honour to meet you Khun Kittisak, and please call me Pran." He punctuated with a small bow and a laugh.
"Well, Pran, it does appear I am not the only warlock happy to see you. Right Wai?" The old man turned to the younger next to him and Pat felt no comfort in finally finding out the boy's name.
Wai? How pretentious.
Pat grimaced, there was nothing about him that didn't annoy the shit out of him, just being in is presence had put his in a dreadful mood. The guy- Wai, smiled at the elder warlock who just nodded towards Pran, before turning back towards them, and walking forwards to envelope the vampire in a hug.
Pat was actually going to go into shock and collapse.
Who the hell did this warlock think he was? He comes into their meeting, disrupts it with his fucking existence and has the urge to just hug the heir of the Siridechawats, the most powerful and respected Vampire family in South-East Asia.
Pat was going to- No he wasn't. He wasn't going to do anything because Pran hugged the man back with a smile that made two little indents into his cheeks. Suddenly the sudden haze of anger that had surged through Pat just moments ago fizzled away. Unfortunately, dimples really were Pat's weakness.
Pat watched as the boy's pulled away from each other and smiled once again before stepping back towards their elders. He then turned to his father whose expression towards Pat was... displeased, to say the least but Pat couldn't understand why. His attention was suddenly pulled back to the elder Warlock by a clap of his hands.
"Now we have all acquainted again, let's get down to business, shall we?" Khun Kittisak motioned towards the thrones with a smile and the families all bowed in respect once more before taking their positions. Pat followed his father onto the marble platform and took his place on the forest green leather throne which was certainly less comfortable than it appeared. The seat felt like stone beneath him and had him squirming slightly as he first sat down before he composed himself. He imagined the comfort levels was a deliberate choice by the Siridechawats to get under their skin, his father probably did the same thing to their thrones at the meeting hall at his house too. Pathetic if you asked Pat.
