Chapter four

It's raining, and I'm ready with a pen and a paper to decode the morse code of the pitter patter of the rain. I breathe in the petrichor and smile to myself as my favourite song from the playlist Aarav sent me starts playing. His music taste is way more melodious and slow, unlike the beats of my heavy metal heart.

Aarav is out on a study-date with Varsh and Laya at some cafe, and I don't want to miss my best friend on a rainy evening, so I'm listening to his playlist. He told me that Varsh has similar music to his, so that makes it better.

I try to focus on the rain and write down letter by letter, hoping that it would say or at least hint to me about Varsh's undying love for me. Of course, I'd settle for just knowing who he likes. Honestly, I'd take anything at this point.

I lower the volume of my phone to pay more attention towards the sound of the rain as I try to jot it down as quickly as I can. It's raining heavily so I have to put up with the speed.

Before I could form even a couple of sentences, the rain slows down and down until the clouds are not gloomy anymore. I look down at my paper with a frown on my face:

One for the money, two for the show

What did that even mean? I grab my phone and type furiously into my phone, and as the page loads, the power is gone, leaving me to sit in a dark room, confused and annoyed by the sudden power cut.
