Severus didn't sleep at all the night he returned from his fateful dinner at Dr. Evans' house, at his son's house.

Unsure of what to do or what to say, his mind whirled furiously while he contemplated all that he had learned.

He had a son, a natural born son, and a granddaughter too.

Lily lived and somewhere, caught tragically in the middle, blissfully and mournfully ignorant, Harriet waited to learn all of that.

As Severus gazed out his chamber window at the dark waters of the Black Lake, he looked forward to the dinner date he had made with Lily.

Never a man to act impulsively even when confronted by such incomprehensible revelations, Severus clenched his jaw as he thought through his plan.

There had been no car accident, no magical injury.

Potter had been dead the night of Lily's disappearance and Harriet's unexpected survival.

No........it hadn't been something that had separated him from his flower, it had been someone.

Severus vowed to learn the identity of the culprit before he jeopardized his family's safety again.

Despite the many prospects of what he could learn and what he may learn, the joy remained that Lily lived.

She lived.

Severus had seen her and would see her again, soon!

He would talk to her.

They would be together once more, even if he had to woo Lily all over again.

As soon as classes concluded that Friday, Severus spent an hour and a half in his chambers washing and preening himself like a raven attempting to attract a mate.

By the time he finished, his feathers gleamed.

He took a quick look at himself in the mirror before he turned on his heel and strode out of his private quarters, headed straight to The Three Broomsticks.

How often had he and Lily shared Butterbeers there during their early Hogwarts days?

Perhaps being in such a familiar setting may whisper wisps of fleeting memories, if his assumptions were in fact wrong, and she had not in fact, been the victim of some heinous Memory Charm.

Severus made his way into Hogsmeade, spoke to the server at the front of the establishment  and promptly followed her up the stairs to a table underneath a dim lamp.

His black eyes narrowed as he glanced around nervously.

The buses still ran at that hour, to bring muggle parents to and from the village with their wizarding children.

Had the directions he sent earlier in the week been clear enough?

Had she-

"Good evening!" Severus had become so caught up in his brooding that he hadn't noticed the footsteps sounding from behind him as someone approached his table.

He turned around and let his mouth drop open in awe as his darling, beautiful, flawless Lily stood right in front of him.

The blue dress she wore perfectly contrasted her shining, red hair and deep, green eyes.
