"so should we head out to my house now? " jennie questions, looking cool as a cucumber whilst her hands fist her skirt out of nervousness. she just wants to get the rest of the evening over with, already having completely anhilated her humiliation and embaressment quota by questioning the guy if he thought this was a date.

anymore dining together in such ambience and surely yoongi would read out the feeling etched across her forehead.

jennie had liked the man for so long, she wasn't even sure of it herself now.

when she first entered the kim group at the age of twenty two,  she'd just been an intern. she was utterly clueless at the time, not knowing what to do with what, her ivy league education hadn't taught her how to socialise. she was underconfident and softer than now. her only consolation was the presence of her best friends in the same office.

yoongi had been a junior manager for public relations at the time. he was three years older than her and was regarded a workaholic machine of sorts. as one of taehyung's closest friends, people had assumed he had been chosen due to favoritism and status, but yoongi quickly and routinely proved all the allegations wrong. he was truly someone she looked upto, as jennie herself had been eager to rise up the ranks.

but then they were constantly put together in the same teams and partnered up for projects and ad campaigns, she started wondering if maybe admiration was not all she had felt for him.

which again changed when on the day of the company gala all those years ago, he brought a date. someone who was so beautiful, so intelligent and so so plain nice, that all jennie could do is hurt silently.

after that she started dating around too. kai was one of her rare long term flings and since yoongi had smiled when he came to know about her going out with the guy, she had hurt some more.

what she didn't know was that min yoongi had been crushing on her since the first time he had ever seen her; even prior to her seeing him, that the date he had brought was his cousin and that everytime he heard her talk to kai whenever they worked together, his heart bled a little more.

what she didn't know was that he had decided enough was enough.

"yes, but before we leave i have a few things i want to say jennie."

and the brunette watched as he bent down on one knee next to their table, held her hand and looked up into her eyes with his own bottomless ones. gasps rang out around them and a fierce blush spread across jennie's cheeks.

"i admit i told namjoon that i considered this a date. in fact everytime we've worked together in the past, ordering take out and spending hours discussing portfolios and statistics, i've thought of them all as dates. i always told myself that you wanted a guy more like kai, i'm older, and not wiser, but still, someone who was your peer. dating me would have caused disgusting things to be said about you in the office, i was your superior and people could have accused the very honesty and white integrity of your work ethic. so i held off. "

jennie thought she was having a dream.

"but i don't think i can anymore. i admit, even today i considered making up an excuse to explain away things but i'm tired jennie. i'm exhausted trying to stay away. that night after the bar was the best one of my life, second only to the night i first saw you, laughing and chatting with jisoo during the interns welcoming party."

jennie could feel her eyes tear up.

he remembers stuff that happened half a decade ago. and he calls it the best night of his life.

she could not believe this was the same yoongi she had worked with all these years.

but the next sentence he declared definitively knocked her breath out.

"i love you jennie kim. will you please date me and make me happy?"

and that was when jennie decided he deserved the kiss of a lifetime.
