welcome home

    It was the summer of 1985, When I decided to return home. If you didn't know, I am Dani Hargrove. Yes, sister of Billy Hargrove. Billy and I have a very rocky relationship when it comes to being siblings. 

When our mother left she decided to take me with her. She fought so hard to take Billy too but my father got custody of him. When I left it was horrible. Billy and I never spoke at that point and it was just mom and me. Suddenly Mom fell sick and I was only 14. It started as only a cold but then over the next 3 years it became worse and she declined at a rapid pace.

    She sadly died when I was 17. I was heartbroken, I tried to pay all the medical bills and home bills but I was only a kid. I worked 3 jobs and I had to do high school on top of that. To say I was stressed and overworked was an understatement. 

But on a somewhat happier note I get to see Billy again. Even though I haven't seen him in 3 years I'm excited to see what my brother has become. 

I showed up with my bags to my father's house. I took a deep breath, preparing myself for the new life ahead of me.  I knocked on the door and saw a girl with red hair.

(M) Who are you?

(D) Hey um im Dani

(M) What do you want

(D) I'm here for billy hargrove

(M) Oh your one of his chicks

(D) Hell no! I'm his sister not one of his hook ups. Is this seriously what he's been up to? 

She looked at me wide eyed. Did Billy or dad not tell anyone that I'm here? I mean they didn't pick me up from the airport so I guess they forgot. Dad is probably dead beat drunk right now if I'm being completely honest

She welcomed me in and told me her name, Max. I looked around the house and it was so bare. 

Plain brown walls and bare furniture. There were little to no photos on the walls and don't get me started on the kitchen. Even if I paid the bills to my house, at least we had some color other than tan and gray. 

That was until I saw dad. He looked at me with wide eyes. He wrapped his arms around me into a hug. The smell of beer hit me like a truck as I awkwardly hugged back

(F) Oh thank the lord your back! My sweet little girl finally returned to her rightful parent. So how are you Danielle? 

(V) Dani its Dani Dad. But I missed you too, been a while

(F) Dani? That sounds like a boy's name. That's not lady like Danielle 

(D) It's just a nickname dad, calm down. It's nothing permanent. 

    He gave me a tight smile and guided me to my room. We walked down the hall as I saw tiny photos of Billy. I smiled as I touched one of the photos. 

When I looked to my right I saw him. Billy. He looked so different. His hair was grown out and he had a whole mustache. He was definitely a ladies man by the way his room was set up.

He was lifting weights and smoking a cigarette. He turned to face me as he froze. I smiled and gave him a wave before following my father. 

After dad showed me my room  I  started to unpack. I grabbed my walkman and listened to my favorite song " Call me" by blondie while unpacking. The reason why it was my favorite was because Billy bought me the tape. 

It was christmas morning as Billy and I ran down the stairs. We opened all of our presents as I opened my walkman. I squealed as I screamed thank you over and over again. Suddenly Billy gave me a small present with the name " From Billy" scribbled on top 

I smiled as I opened the gift. There sat my first ever tape. I tackled him in a hug as we laughed. 

I sighed as I reminisce about the memory. We were all so happy at the time. So young and innocent, not knowing the chaos and trauma we were about to face.

I felt a tap on my shoulder and saw a middle aged woman with red hair like Max's. I removed my headphones as she spoke

(S) Hello dear, I'm Susan, your new mom!

I furrow my brows and scoff

(V) Step-mom, You're not my real mom Susan. 

    I turned my back and continued unpacking. She sighed and went out my door.  She is just another person in the house and she is definitely not my mother. Doesn't she know that my real mom died? I get that my dad is a dead beat drunk but couldn't he at least show some remorse?

That was his wife and the mother to his kids for crying out loud! I get that their relationship was not the best but he would have attended the funeral wouldn't he?  The answer is no. He never showed up

I was sat there mourning the death of my mother and safe place. He only noticed her death once I told him I was coming home. Only then did he acknowledge her but it was only because of me. 

I was done unpacking and fell to my bed. I went to sleep until I heard screaming. I ran to what seems to be Billy's room. Dad was choking Billy and was screaming at him. 

(F) You think you're so grown up huh? You think you're the big man

He yelled as Billy glared at him with hatred in his eyes 

(D) Dad get off of him!

I yelled at dad for him to stop but he didn't listen. I ran up to him and kicked him in the back. He winced in pain and let go of billy. I guess wearing boots came in handy 

Billy finally was able to breathe as he took quiet breaths

(D) Neil what the fuck are you doing!

(F) Why did you kick me you little brat! Your going to pay for that

He ran over to me and was about to grab me until Billy grabbed my arm and dragged me to the front door. He also grabbed Max and took us to his car. 

(B) Get in the car now

He shouted and he started to drive away. 

(D) Billy what the fuck was that?

(B) It was nothing.

He muttered as I scoffed 

(D) Look I know I haven't seen you in three years but that isn't normal

(M) Billy, where are we going?

(B) Just shut up will ya

HIIIII!!!!!! This is my first book but oh well! I actually have the majority of the chapters pre written so y'all dont need to wait long. I am on break so I will have time to finish this book and might make a sequel  if the book does well. I will like to thank aavocadotoastt because they inspired much of this book for season 3 and possibly 4 so all inspiration goes to them. I will try my best to stay true to the original plot but i might add a few changes to add more emotion and or drama to the plot. I might also add more characters that I will create but as of now im just adding Dani.  Any who HAVE FUN READING THANK U SO MUCH!!!!!
