A perfect toss, the ball slowly fell after you toss it high enough for a serve.
A perfect leap, you felt your body in the air.
A powerful serve, you felt the ball for a second, before smashing it, almost like spiking it to the other side of the court.
"Y/N-chan, we'll go ahead!" Your teammates said, waving goodbye before they headed out the gym doors, not waiting for your reply. Well, they knew not to disturb you anyway. Especially knowing how upset you were after the previous practice match, when the opposing school's coach had mentioned that it was only to be expected that you were a great volleyball player considering your father Oikawa Torù was, after all, a legend.
And you hated that. You hated that fact that people only recognize you as the Oikawa Torù's daughter. Well, it saddened you as well.
You didn't want people to recognize you only because of your father. You wanted people to recognize as you, Oikawa Y/N. You played volleyball not because of wanting to continue the legacy, but because you enjoyed playing it.
People just don't see that.
In fact, during your first year in middle school, you were automatically put in as a regular player with the reason that 'you are Oikawa Toru's daughter', while there were others who were good players that had to work hard even up to their last year of middle school just to maintain their first string position.
It was unfair, and you loathe it.
Then, it happened again in high school.
You are third year now, last year of high school, and also last chance to prove to everyone that you can be far greater than your father. You practice overtime once a week and would also request practice matches with other schools often.
At the moment, no one but you remained at the gym. Or so you thought.
"Working hard, eh?" The ball fell from your hand when you were startled by a voice. You turned to see a guy about the same age as you, leaning against the gym doors, his arms crossed, and a haughty poise to the way he smirks at your direction. You also noticed he was wearing a differet school jacket. You narrowed your eyes - a Shiratorizawa.
"What's a chicken doing here?" You asked, mocking their animal presentation - was it eagle or swan or duck?
The boy wasn't faze a bit though. In fact, he chuckled as he entered the gym. "Funny," he said with a boyish grin. "We just played against your boys' team for a practice match and they lost. Pathetic."
You rolled your eyes and continued with your previous serving practice. However, as soon as you hit the ball, the boy quickly dashed at the other side in a quick speed and stopped the ball with a perfect receive.
"Damn, you hit the ball harder than those from your boys' team." He commented, still maintaining the smirk on his ... you noticed ... handsome face. "Are you even a girl?" A tick mark appeared on your head and you take back mentally your compliment about how handsome he looks."You know outsiders are not allowed in the compound without permission?" You said, taking another ball from the floor.
He rolled his eyes. "Oh com' on, I happened see a girl practicing alone - and might I mention she's a pretty one. And do nothing and leave? I'm a gentleman. Of course I'll break some other school's ground rules and accompany her."
