The poker set fell out from the top shelf of the closet. How the group had landed on poker, Strawberry was unsure. What she did know, though, was that there was no real money on the line.
As everyone got their fair share of chips worth 10000, Damien agreed to be the dealer for Strawberry, Rocco, and Astral.
Astral, being the klutz she was, had already knocked over her stacks of chips. While she cleaned up her mess, Damien dealt the three of them their hands.
A two of hearts and a queen of clubs. The blinds were at 200 and 400. Luckily, Astral had not been chosen for the blinds, giving her more time to restack her chips. Looking at their hands, Rocco quickly folded.
Within a few seconds, Astral called 400. Strawberry followed along, calling 400.
Five of hearts, jack of spades, and a king of hearts. Strawberry only had a high card, but could she bank on the idea of a flush? Maybe she could. She checked.
Astral was not so simple, though. She bet a heavy 3000.
"Yeesh...3000?" Strawberry grumbled, her inner gambler cracking a grin on her face. "Call."
A pot of 7000 sat in the center of the floor, Astral and Strawberry manically smiling. Who would've thought they would get so serious about a poker game?
Damien dealt the fourth card, an ace of hearts. Strawberry was so close, she just needed another card with the suit of hearts. A singular bullet of sweat trailed down her face.
"2000," Astral simply called. 2000? Weak. Absolutely weak. Strawberry was all. In.
Rocco, laughing his ass off at the situation, got a smack in the head by Damien as Astral slowly shoved all of her chips into the pile.
With 20000 on the line, the final card was turned over.
The nine of diamonds shattered Strawberry's gambling ego. It was already visible who might have won, but Strawberry refused to give up all her hope. She revealed her measly high card as Astral whipped out a straight. Strawberry had instantly busted.
Strawberry spent the rest of the game screaming and shouting into her pillow as Rocco and Astral continued to play.
