~ Fenrys ~

Fenrys woke up to what sounded like whimpers coming from the female he was curled around. He was in his wolf form and Aelin was curled underneath the blanket with him, with her hands intertwined in the fur on his chest. Her head was tucked underneath his own, face buried in his neck. He had one paw draped over her waist, and the other was underneath her head, acting as a pillow.

He woke up completely when the sounds got louder, more frantic, more panicked. He shifted into his fae form, his hands still under Aelin's head and around her waist. He quickly moved so he was above her - his back to the headboard, sitting on his heels, putting Aelin's head on his lap, his hands on either side of her face. Her breathing was growing more rapid, and she was beginning to thrash around.

"Aelin. Aelin, come on wake up." His thumbs were stroking her cheekbones, trying to ground her back to this reality, back to him. "Aelin, your here, your safe. I promise your safe." He kept repeating those two words, softly stroking the sides of her face for several minutes until she stopped thrashing and her breathing grew less irregular.

After one more minutes, she opened her eyes. The fear and pain held within them nearly broke him there and then.

"Hey hun" he said as softly as he could. "You're safe ok? I'm with you, I'm here and I'm not going anywhere." His hands were still on the sides of her face, stroking her cheeks. She brought her hands up to cover his own, closing her eyes momentarily.

"You promise?" her whisper was barely audible.

"I promise."

Aelin sat up on her calves and faced him. Then she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him to her. His hands went around her waist, pulling her closer to him. They stayed like that for a few moments until Fenrys pulled her down with him so she was laying on his chest, and pulled the blankets back over them both.

"Go back to sleep, we've got a few more hours before we've got to get up." he whispered into her ear. Her face was tucked into his neck, one of her arms went around his head so her hand was tangled in his hair. Her other hand was tucked under his arm, lying on the bed.

One of his arms was wrapped around her waist under the blanket, his other hand rested on the back of her head.

She nodded, tucking her head further into his neck making him smile a little. Not long after, her breathing evened out and she fell asleep, with him following moments later.
