"Are you finally gonna spill the beans and tell me where we're headed?" I prod, my curiosity getting the better of me. "We're heading to your apartment."

"We're what?" I exclaim, my voice filled with disbelief.

"We're going to your apartment," he repeats, enunciating each word as if I'm some kind of idiot who didn't comprehend it the first time. Trust me, I got it loud and clear. I'm just flabbergasted that he knows where the hell I live.

An exasperated sound escapes my lips. "No way in hell. You have no clue where I live."

Hugo lets out a noise from the front seat, prompting Anuj to shoot him a threatening glance without missing a beat. "I know your exact address, Anupama," he declares, his voice calm and collected.

"I ain't buying it," I retort, skepticism lacing my words.

He shakes his head at me, his index finger tapping against his temple as his gaze shifts to the window, fixated on the cars whizzing by. "It's kinda cute how you think I'm clueless about every detail of your life."

No way in hell. "You're clueless about me." Hell, we barely exchanged a few words at his family's vacation home. Words weren't necessary, you know what I'm saying?

Words weren't really needed.

I shake off that thought before it takes root. The last thing I need is that memory on my mind. One thing I can well guarantee is that Vanraj probably didn't spill much to Anuj about me. I mean, come on, even though they're brothers, Anuj and Vanraj ain't exactly best buddies. I can't picture those two sitting down and shooting the shit about yours truly.

He glances from the window to me, a smug grin playing on his lips. "You seem to forget that I'm the big boss of the company you slave away at. Whatever they knew about you, I know now, stored right up here."—He taps his temple, oozing arrogance.—"And that includes your precious address."

I release an exasperated sigh, slumping in my seat and crossing my arms defiantly. "You know, that's seriously creepy."

"It's called utilizing the tools at my disposal," he retorts, unapologetic.

My phone buzzes, interrupting our banter. Shooting a glare at Anuj, I unlock it and check the group chat with my roommates. Scrolling through the lengthy conversation, it becomes clear they've been quite chatty since Anuj whisked me away from work.

Devika: Stella, prepare to have your mind blown. Guess who just waltzed into our lives to rescue our very own workaholic Cinderella? 🤌

Stella: Anuj Kapadia? No way! Did he actually make an appearance?

Don't you dare keep me in suspense. I need all the juicy gossip!! 😩

Devika: Hold up, my dude. Annora caught me red-handed with my phone, scolding me like a drill sergeant.

HELL YES!!! He descended upon us like a Greek god. WHY DIDN'T ANYONE WARN ME HE WAS THAT SMOKIN' HOT?!

Stella: Why isn't Anu responding? MISS ANUPAMA JOSHI... spill the tea. Right this second.

Devika: She's probably indulging in some steamy car action with her new boss. If my boss looked like that, I'd make an exception to the office romance policy.

Well, technically, he's my boss too. I should've been the lucky assistant, ready to assist him in more ways than one.

Stella: Devika! Remember, he's your boss!
