When Charlie woke up, her girlfriend was no where to be found. She slowly rose from the bed and trudged to her closet, where she found a note scrawled in Dot's messy handwriting.

"Red,
I'm in the kitchen packing supplies for our date, so don't freak. We won't be coming back home until tomorrow, so I took the liberty of packing you an overnight bag.
Love always,
Dorothy"

Charlie smiled as she pulled the note from the door and pocketed it. She pulled on a well-worn tank top and some shorts and smiled at herself in the mirror, pointing at her reflection with gun hands. Satisfied, the red head strode into the kitchen.

"Good morning," Dorothy said happily, kissing Charlie. She handed Charlie an overnight bag and held open the door for her. "Are you ready for the date of a lifetime?"

Charlie grinned and nodded, pulling Dorothy out of the apartment. Dot slid onto her motorcycle with ease, and Charlie climbed on behind her. The air was sweet with the smell of fresh rain and the hazy light of the rising summer sun cast a glow on the landscape. Charlie slid her arms around Dorothy's waist as they pulled onto a main road. It was still early enough that there were few cars on the street, and Dorothy sped down the familiar route.

When they arrived at their destination, Dorothy helped Charlie down from the motorcycle. "Welcome to the best bakery in town," the brunette said, spreading her arms wide.

Charlie looked at her girlfriend questioningly. "Um...yeah. I know what the bakery is. I work, like, three shops away. Why are we here?"

Dorothy rolled her eyes. "Sure, you've been here for work, but have you ever been here as a normal customer? Today, I want you to relax. Be chill." She opened the door. "Now, let's go have breakfast."

A few people sat at tables, looking only half awake, but the store was otherwise empty except for Gabriel and Chrissy, an intern. When Gabriel spotted Dot and Charlie, he grinned widely.

"Hey guys! Dean said you were taking a day off. What can I do for you?" He asked, seeming relieved to have someone to take his kid off of Chrissy's usual complaints.

Charlie ordered for them. "Two cinnamon rolls, 2 coffees."

Gas riel bustled around, grabbing cinnamon rolls and filling coffee cups. "Do you want this for here or to go?" He asked, glancing up at Dorothy.

"To go." She smiled at Charlie. "We've got places to be." Gabriel nodded and set their order on the counter. While Dorothy paid, Charlie looked around the bakery. She wasn't used to seeing it during business hours. It was strange being inside with all of the lights on and normal customers.

Dorothy handed Charlie a coffee and waited while the redhead doctored it to her taste. "I still don't see how you can drink black coffee," Charlie said before taking a sip of her own drink.

The brunette smiled. "I guess I'm just that hardcore."

Charlie held the bag with their cinnamon rolls as Dorothy drove them just out of town. They left the motorcycle at the bottom of a grassy hill, and, breakfast in hand, began to climb.

When they reached the top, the two of them sat down on the wet grass. Dew drops clung to the green blades, and Charlie carded her fingers through it carelessly, all while watching Dorothy.

Charlie leaned forward to kiss Dot sweetly. The brunette smiled against her girlfriend's lips. "Thanks."

"Your welcome," Charlie laughed, sitting back. She fished a cinnamon roll out of the bag. Icing stuck to her fingers as she took a bite. "Damn, that's good."

As the two finished their breakfast, laughing and talking the whole time, Dorothy became increasingly aware of the weight of the ring in her pocket. It was white gold with a simple pattern and a small stone. On the inside was an engraving of two words. "Love always."

She pulled the ring out, still hidden in her clenched fist. "Hey, Charlie-"

"Dorothy, will you marry me?" Charlie interrupted, thrusting a ring into Dot's face.

Dorothy was taken aback. "God damn it, Red," she growled, opening her hand to reveal the ring. "I was going to propose today. Thanks for stealing my thunder."

Charlie laughed, sounding relieved. "Is that a yes, then?" She asked.

Dot grinned. "I suppose so," she whispered, sliding the ring into Charlie's finger.

The two surged forward, lips pressed desperately together at Charlie placed the other ring on Dorothy's finger. When they finally broke apart, Charlie was smiling. "For the record, I proposed first, so I win."

Dot rolled her eyes. "Shut up." She leaned forward, kissing her now-fiancé again. "God, you're hot. I think we may have to skip the next activity in favor of another."

"Is our room ready?" Charlie breathed, trying not to laugh.

Dorothy winked at her. "Yup. We've got a whole room to ourselves."

With a laugh, they sprinted down the hill to the motorcycle.
