"Alright class, welcome to the first day of the school year. I'm Ms. Choi. This year, we have two new students; Shen Quanrui and Lin Shiqi. The two of you, please introduce yourself, starting with Mr. Shen." A lady in her early thirties walked in. Her heels clicked on the floor as she walked. At her words, a tall boy stood up.
"Hi guys, I'm young and rich, tall and handsome, my name is Shen Quanrui. You can call me Ricky." At his confident introduction, the class laughs and bursts into applause.
"Hello everybody, my name is Lin Shiqi. You can call me Serene. I'm a bookworm and I dislike people who have big egos." The girl stood up and glanced in Ricky's direction. The students laugh at the fun she was poking at Ricky's introduction.
One thing they all didn't know: Ricky and Serene had a history.
"Alright guys, that's enough. I will assign you your seating partners now. Mr. Shen with Mr. Han, Ms. Lin with Ms. Hong..."
Ricky took a seat in the last row, next to a guy called Han Yujin. In front of them was a girl called Hong Eunchae, as well as Serene.
"This will be your homeroom class for the rest of the year. Today, we're not doing anything serious. I'll get all of you to spent twenty minutes having a conversation with your desk partner. You should try to get to know them better. Okay, your twenty minutes starts now." Ms. Choi announced in an authoritative tone.
"Hey, Ricky. Nice introduction." Yujin joked, which immediately made Ricky crack up. "Heh, glad someone appreciated it." He glanced at Serene, who was talking to Eunchae.

A few years ago, when they were still middle school students, Ricky and Serene were classmates. They knew each other since young as their parents were good friends.
It's a pity that they hate each others' guts.
Ricky used to enjoy watching Serene get bullied by a bunch of jerks from the school. Serene had helped him when some of them started targeting him instead of her, but he never thanked her.
He basically hated her guts. She did, too, but not as much.
