Ello loves! Finally got a minute between work and just well...life to post. Enjoy <3

I sat with the rest of my brothers and Sang watching the morning news with a grim expression. 16 dead. 40 injured.
"It's actually 25 dead if you include the 9 that Tyler and Mimi must have shot dead before they entered the nightclub," said Mr. Blackbourne, taking another sip of his coffee. I knew he'd been up most of the morning from the obvious bags under his eyes.
North wrinkled his nose in disgust, "Does anything other than a block of ice pump through their veins? 16 innocent people are dead who didn't have shit to do with their rivalry with this nut job."
"Quite the contrary Mr. Taylor this was about retribution not their turf war. Faith as well as Xavier's 2 year old brother were shot at in front of her parents' brownstone yesterday afternoon. I believe Tyler and Mimi were present or else there would be a dead teenager and child on our hands now. More importantly four extremely violent individuals out for blood if that happened," he responded coolly. He was all business now. Play time was over as quickly as it started.
I thrust my hands into my hair and took a deep breath. I wasn't feeling sympathy for cold blooded killers right now. But what if that was Sang in the line of fire? Wouldn't I want whoever hurt her to feel my pain tenfold? I wish I could put her back on the first flight home. Even if she stayed with mom and Jessica so she wasn't alone, it was better than having her here in danger.
"Fuck this! Anyone crazy enough to shoot at a kid will kill us all if we happen to be anywhere near these guys!" Gabe protested, waving his hands in front of his face wildly.
Luke picked at an imaginary speck of dust on the table, "Gabe has a point, Mr. B. What are we doing here anyway? Isn't this a job for the FBI not us?" His brown eyes looked sad and defeated, but above all scared to death.
"Shouldn't we be the ones to help the little boy though? I mean...would the police really think about what kind of people they are before they throw them all in prison? Xavier's little brother doesn't have anyone else, but them. He would be put into foster care and never see his family again," said Sang softly.
She was curled up on the sofa between North and Silas hugging her knees close to her chest. I stole a glance at Mr. B waiting for my cue to cut in and restore order to the situation even when my heart screamed otherwise.
He nodded discretely as always. "Ten is right guys. We're here to stop more innocent people from getting killed in a war that isn't their own. Hopefully in the process we can lock up the bad guys so they can't destroy their lives any worse than they already have. The only way to make this work is to see the humanity in all of them." Sang looked at me like I was her superhero making every word worth it.
Silas stretched her legs out so her head was in North's lap and her cute little toes hung over his thighs. Both looked down at her with the same look of adoration we all do every time she proves she has more mettle than anyone gives her credit for. She would put herself in the line of fire because she knows there is a small child in harm's way despite the obvious danger. I loved her to the depths of the Earth and as badly as I wanted to protect her I knew this was a journey she had to make with us to please the Academy. Our debt was gone thanks to completing the Ashley Walters assignment, but this would put us well into the positive and secure Sang a spot on our team for as long as we lived.
