Prince Cassian calls the King exhausting, but he is way more tiring than the King. Just being around him made you want to crawl into the bed that the King provided and fall asleep and never leave again. But today was the only day that Dustin would be guarding Florian's cell, and you needed to visit them before you leave for the Kingdom of Fyn.

As you approached the royal prison Dustin spotted you, "So, Y/n, my favorite friend in the whole world, are you going to tell me what was talked about in the meeting?"

"Well, when I was walking away you mentioned that it wasn't much of a deal since you allow me to visit Florian anyway." You smiled as you used his words against him, "I also said I would consider it. I did consider it and I decided to not say anything."

Dustin pouted but then sighed. He knew you had won and there was nothing he could do about it. Except for one thing, "Fine, I won't let you visit Florian then. You didn't hold up your end of the deal." He chuckled thinking he had won.

"I did. I did consider it, but you won't believe me. So technically you aren't keeping up your end of the deal." There was a simple flaw in Dustin's debate. He didn't take into account the keywords of the deal.  While yes, you didn't consider it, but he can't prove that. If the King found out you told anyone of what happened he would have your loved ones' heads added to his collection.

Dustin groaned in defeat and opened the door with one of his multiple keys. You walked through the prison paying no attention to anyone else. Until you found their cell.

"Y/n!" They sat up from their previous posting of laying on the floor. "I am so glad you're here. It has been bland without you here!"

You smiled at the mage, "I am happy to see you too."

"I got you a gift!" Florian looked around their cell, their fluffy dark purple hair bounced around as they felt the floor.

You sighed as you watched the mage, "Florian, it's fine you're in a prison cell."

"Found it!" They grabbed a skeleton of a rat, "This one wandered into my cell, and it had these huge red eyes, it was an amazing sight really, I had this great idea to help restore my magic using its eyes so-"

"So you killed it."

"No, Y/n. It peacefully passed away on a cold winter night in its little rat bed with all its rat family and friends dabbed their tiny rat eyes with tiny rat tissues because their tiny rat eyes were overcome with tiny rat tears, and they could not handle their friend and family member's death." Florian looked at you with annoyance, "Of course I killed it."

"So did it work? The thing with the magic eyes." You questioned sitting next to their cell.

Florian chuckled then sighed, "What do you think?" Florian was stuck in a magic-proof cell made just for them. Magic was illegal but they were quietly studying it. They also did something to get themselves caught and outed as a magic user. They refuse to tell you what they did or even give you a hint.

"Don't worry I am so close to convincing the King to let you free. I just need to clean up my debate and allow him to give you a chance. It might even make magic legal again. As far as he knows you are the last mage alive so why keep it outlawed if when you die there will be little to no magic users left." You reassured them.

"I hope so." They laid down their hands behind their head, "I am getting tired of this old cell. I've been stuck here for how many years?"

You retraced all the events that have happened and remember the exact one that happened right before Florian got arrested, "I believe two years. You got arrested on the second anniversary of me becoming the King's advisor. Exactly a day after my eighteenth birthday."

"I guess we've both been in this hellhole for two years. But you've been suffering for four." Florian joked around.

"It's not that bad." You tried to reason with him, "I can see why it might be bad for you because you are in a prison cell and all, but out there when you get used to it, it's not the worst. Anyway, I am not just here to talk to you I have to tell you something."

Florian's head turned to you, their yellow eyes full of questions, "Oh? What does that imply?"

"I will not be able to visit you for a while. I will be traveling with the King and his children to the Kingdom of Fyn for political reasons I can not disclose yet." You said as they listened to everyone you said.

Florian nodded, "I understand. Maybe you should get to your room and rest. I hear Fyn is a long way to go from here." With those very words, you left Florian. In a cell. Alone. They craved you to touch them again, but unfortunately, they could only talk and stare at you. It was what they get for working with someone they couldn't fully trust. They should have known not to trust a prince who wanted to murder someone. But there was nothing they could do about it now.
