The Journey

We finally saw the gorgeous red steam train pull up at Kings Cross station, and I had a wide grin on my face, knowing I'd be seeing all my friends soon. And Harry. Especially Harry.

I hugged Uncle Remus goodbye, and rushed onto the train with Alexis, and we jumped on, yelling to him.

"Goodbye! We'll see you at Christmas! Bye!" We yelled simultaneously, as this was the usual farewell, it's not changed, it's always what we feel so what's the point in changing it?

I quickly sat down in an empty compartment, pulling Alexis with me. I breathed a sigh of relief, glad to be back on the train for her third year.

"Oi, Gabby, isn't your brother coming  this year? He's in his first year right?" Alexis said, suddenly remembering.
"Yeah he's coming. He's on the train now I bet" I replied, thinking about it.
"Are you excited to meet him after 10 years?"
"Hm, he won't know shit about me, but I suppose I want to see him, everyone says he looks like our dad."

Alex nodded, agreeing with me. I thought about it again, he wouldn't know I existed would he? There's a small chance he'd find me somewhat familiar, but nothing more than that.

I saw a brunette girl walk past our compartment a few times, but she went past it 6 times before she knocked on the glass. I waved to her, and she opened the door hesitantly.

She was quite pretty, however she had bucked teeth that almost disguised her natural beauty.

"Has anyone seen a toad? Someone called Neville's lost one." She said, looking nervous. She kept looking up and down the walkway, as if expecting the toad to appear out of nowhere.

"No, sorry. We'll keep an eye out though, he'll find it somewhere, don't worry." I said, smiling at her. She smiled back, a kind, beautiful smile, one that's bound to be ruined by a stupid boy at some point in her later years. I've seen it myself, been through it in fact. Cedric Diggory, Hufflepuff, fourth year. I was in second, him in third. something was going on, he was becoming distant and was always going to 'study' with Cho Chang. Pfft, I was eventually told they'd been caught making out in a classroom. Idiots. I don't mean to boast, but I'm pretty well-liked among the students and faculty, especially Professor McGonagall, who I call Minnie of course. My parents and their friends did, so I decided to... continue the tradition.

Anyway, the girl introduced herself as Hermione Granger, a muggleborn. I smiled warmly at her when she mentioned her blood status, a sign that I didn't care about it. I am a half-blood and my mum was a muggleborn after all, so who am I to judge? Anyway, she eventually left, saying she had to keep looking for this toad. Trevor, I think he was called. We finally arrived, however I didn't feel the same excitement as I normally did. I was scared, terrified even. Harry Potter was coming to school, but I had a weird feeling something bad would happen. Something bad always happens when it involves us Potters, so there's no benefit in pretending it doesn't.
