Soooo.... yeah....

Maybe I'm just completely dragging out the ending because I don't want it to end?!

================

"I've never felt less prepared for a weekend in this competition and it's the bloody finals." Liam grumbles. "It's all your fault, Malik." He crosses his arms over his chest and resolutely looks out the car window.

"I seem to remember I was the one who suggested we do a quick run through of the signature last night after dinner." Zayn points out from the driver's seat next to him. "But you were too excited by the fact that Little Women just came onto Netflix."

"It's a classic!" Liam turns back to Zayn, outraged he doesn't appreciate his priorities. "I like having my evenings to relax. You were the one who wouldn't let me practice for the technical this morning."

Zayn throws one hand off the wheel in despair. "You can't practice for the technical, that's the whole point of it."

"I still think my idea of you picking out a random recipe and taking out half the method for me was a good one." Liam huffs out slightly.

"But there's not even a category this week, the technical could literally be anything." Zayn argues back.

"I know!" Liam replies animatedly. "That's why it would have been good to at least do some preparation for it but no, instead we wasted the day-"

"Playing with your son and having a wonderful time?" Zayn interjects softly.

Liam suddenly stops his thought process and then smiles softly. He turns to look at Zayn. He has his window down as he drives with one hand on the wheel and one arm casually leaning on the open window. The sun is shining in the beautiful Surrey countryside and the soft wind is coming through the window and running through Zayn's loose dark waves.

"Yes you're right. It was a wonderful day." Liam smiles properly.

When they pull up in the car park of the country hotel, Zayn insists on carrying the luggage which leaves Liam as the one to hand both of their phones into Olivia at reception. She looks at them with an amused expression before pressing two room keys into Liam's hand.

Zayn follows Liam up to his room, dumps his backpack on one of the chairs and then proceeds to claim one side of the bed looking up at Liam with a massive grin. Liam chuckles fondly and places the key to Zayn's room on the side table. He's not entirely sure it will be used this weekend.

Then he climbs onto the bed and Zayn moves swiftly, rolling over on top of Liam and pinning him back down on the bed.

"Soooo, we have two whole hours before dinner, that's 120 minutes. What do you think we could do in that time, huh Sweetheart? Cos I have a few ideas..."

They were very tempted to stay in their room until the last moment and make the most of their time alone properly without a toddler to interrupt them, however they don't want Steve to be lonely as he would most likely be around now. That's why they get ready for dinner slightly earlier than they have to and make their way down the stairs to have a drink in the bar.

Sure enough Steve comes into the bar area but he has a book in his hands and he seems surprised to see them.

"Hey Steve, come and join us." Zayn beckons him over as he and Liam sit on the barstools sipping their drinks.

"Oh, I thought... erm, aren't you guys like, together now or something?" Steve mumbles. "I wouldn't want to intrude."

"Nonsense, come on it's fine." Liam assures him. "We came down here because we wanted to see you. We are the three finalists, we need to have a drink together before the madness begins."
